HOLD OFF ON THE MPx220 - New Problem

Anybody here have the Motorola v60t or v60g? If you did, you will remember that after a little while an oval "scratch" became part of your display.

WELL...

On my MPx220, which is about a month old, I have 4 horizontal lines across the display that lines up perfectly with the raised keys.

MORONS!

This in my opinion is pretty shi**y design. As much as I like this phone, I find this problem one of the largest to date. I'm contacting Motorola today and complaining to see what they say. I'll post when I find out.

I have been carrying a MPx220 for about 4 months now and have not seen this on any of the engineering samples or final hardware. How are you transporting it? If you are applying pressure on the flip, the little rubber "stops" wil be crushed and not stop the keypad from rubbing on the lense.

The phone is either carried in a pouch or front pocket with no case. I would think that after the obvious problems they had in the past, they would just recess the damn keys! What the hell?!?!!?

Anyway...

I'll post pics tomorrow. I'm going to also take a pic of the v60 to show what I'm talking about in comparison. I'm not happy about this at all...

Motorola still hasn't gotten back to me on this or the download location for the FW upgrade. More as the status changes.

My guess is that it is from carrying it in your pocket. Look at the top of the flip when it is open. You will see that it is designed to prevent this from occuring. There are two rubber "stops" that keep the flip from resting all of the way down on the keys. If you keep it in your pocket, you are applying pressure and smashing the flip all of the way down on the keys.

I have a black engineering 220 and I definately have scratches in the top 1/3 of the screen that line up with the keys.

Also when using the phone alot, skin oil gets deposited onto the screen, after a couple calls I get a complete keyboard imprint including a perfect circle for the round blue button, so I know ALL the keys touch the screen,

I reccomend WrightWrights screen protectors for PDA's the smaller Palm and older PDA protectors can be found for $5-$6 at CompUSA and best buy on the clearance shelves and you can cut them to fit.

aadadams:

The scratches on the MPx220 are from the top of the keys. SO I have horizontal lines running all the way across the display. I think there's about 4 of them so far.

Foxman:

I reaize that the two rubber stops are SUPPOSED to stop this from happening, but obviously they're not doing a good job. If you can't carry the phone in your pocket, um... well...

If you run a straight edge like a ruler or a cd case across the phone's keys (hold the edge left to right), it catches at each row of keys. All they had to do was recess them.

My comments were based on the appearance of my phone's screen protector. So I guess we have each others problems to look forward to. BTW I carry my phone the same way that you do.

Can't you remove the rubber stops and place slightly taller ones?

or glue thin(2/3 mm) plactic on the underside of the rubber stops and place them back in the holes? But do ask someone to help you with the scissors (mommy or daddy) and don't sniff the glue..

I suppose in some way, you could remove them and engineer bigger or thicker or whater it would take to stop this from happening. But should you have to on a $500 phone?

And you have *NO* right telling me I can't sniff glue. God wouldn't have made it if he didn't intend me to smoke it! Oh wait... that's my crack -er- marijuana defense. Sorry...

No you're right, it's those lamers should have done that, but every phone out here has some problem or an other. Don't smoke the glue, it's like putting your lips on the exhaust of your car and inhaling ;)
