Guest vinceh
Is anyone out there using the Tomtom SDK and if so, is it worth the 120 quit? I have a few projects on the go that involve Tomtom GPS tracking but because my budget is very low, I am very wary of shelling out the cash. Why don't Tomtom offer a free trial peroid. Guest chucky.egg
Never heard of this, but I want a GPS-enabled "Panic Button" to perform a predefined action (sending a pre-written SMS) Is that the sort of thing this could do?
Guest vinceh
Now this does sound interesting! Do you want to send gps location information in SMS form or just something that says "help, I'm lost". The location info could be achieved by using the GPS.NET Global Positioning SDK 1.5.4.1 from http://www.smartphone.net/software_detail....eid=279&id=1020 (thanks nedge2k) as it is cheaper than Tomtom. The "help, I'm lost" should be achievable with quite simple VB.Net
Guest chucky.egg
Yeah, I saw the GPS.NET thing and thought that had some potential. I'm actually thinking about something for work. We've just put in a Lone Worker safety system, which polls the users phone periodically and, if they don't respond, it raises an alarm. That's all easy enough. What I'd also like it to do is: 1) "On demand" (on receipt of an special SMS) send the location from the GPS 2) At pre-set intervals (30mins maybe) send it's location by sms to a pre-set number Trouble is this would be my first Smartphone app, and TBH I'm not really sure where to start
Guest babybob
Just a quick note, the TomTom SDK current does not support TomTomMobile or the new TomTom 4 for pocketpc (usa version) it only supports the older TomTom 3. There has been no word from TomTom about a new SDK so you Id stick with other alternatives. Brian
