Guest pedd
Anyone had this and over come it? I've been suffring with it for a week now. It always seems to hit when I'm typing an email (which is mostly what I use the keyboard for), I'll be typing away happily when the keyboard just stops responding. The screen keyboard, caharacter recogniser and transcriber all continue to work, and the case-mounted buttons all still work, but the keyboard just dies! I'm mystified! It seems to happen at random points in a mail and requires a reset to fix. I've tried swapping apps to see if it's the email app that has frozen, but the keyboard will not respond in any other app, and, as I say, I can carry on emailing using screen input. Been on to Orange support, but as I'm a personal customer rather than a business one, I don't think they're geared up for dealing with M2000s. At first they tried to stonewall me saying 'well if the reset fixes it carry on till we hear back from the manufacturer' but the (very helpful) support guy I got said he wasn't having that and managed to get me an exchange. (Having orange care helped in this respect, I think). ... Then we found out that there are no M2000s to exchange! So it looks like I'm test driving a P910i for the foreseeable future. Just wondering if anyone had come across this?

Guest Chaser81
Probably a bug that will be fixed when Orange release a ROM update. IF they release an update I suppose that should have read....
Guest pedd
That's what I thought, unfortunately I can't live with email on my phone, and the screen just isn't even a temporary option. It seems to be increasing in frequency too. I was wondering if it was something to do with the increasing looseness of the slider... ...I just knew, as well, while I was talking to support, that there was only one way that the call was going to be resolved. :D
Guest fraser
How are you "fixing" it? A reboot would indicate software problem, re-sliding the keyboard would tend towards hardware, although a problem in the later may take a reboot to reinit the device. I'd play about with the keyboard a little to try and find the source. See if you can make it fail on demand by gentle movement, or see if you can make it work perfectly by not moving it at all. If neither make any difference, I'd look for a software issue.

I have tried various positions, but you'll know yourself the positions you get into with your hands sometimes when you're thum-typing. I honestly think it's a hardware problem which confuses the software into thinking there's no keyboard there. Like maybe the device only checks for a keyboard when it starts up and if it loses the connection to it even for a fraction of a second, that's it, it needs a reset to discover the keyboard again
