Well hasnt this place ballooned since I was last here! I started off many moons ago with an original SPV (got rid of it due to constant bugs and crashes) - moved onto an E200 (less buggy but crashed as well) - then decided to leave the smartphone world (very reluctantly) and got an unbranded SE P900, which to be honest was a nice and stable phone compared to the SPV series. Finally I went to a branded Orange P910 which is slower than my P900 and am returning it to Orange. After much searching I have decided to go for the M2000 and fingers crossed I have made the right decision.

Anyway I just wanted to say thanks for the very informative review of the M2000 and for all the helpful postings that guided my decision. Now I just have to ask will the memory cards I accumulated with my SPV's fit the M2000 (if they do woohoo!!!) If not ebay here I come (also starts looking for screen protectors that work with this baby)

Catch you all around and its great to be back in my true native mobile phone forum.

Welcome back to MoDaCo! :D

Your old SD cards you used to use in your old phones will work with your M2000. I am using the card i used to use with my E200 in my M2000 right now and the only difference is that when you put the card into the phone (in the slot at the top) it kind of goes in backwards, with the label on the SD card facing away, rather than towards you when you put it in.

As regards the Screen protectors there are a wealth of different suppliers of these things, but since i don't use one at the moment i can't really say which are better.. although i'm sure there are plenty of other users on here that will be able to help you out in this respect!

Hope you find the new MoDaCo as handy as i do!

Hi,

Im new to this site and need some info on the orange m2000. Can you browse the internet out of the box over gprs or do you need a provider or something. Also on the t mobile version can you only access tzones instead of the internet. Im very naive on this matter and would appreciate your comments. I primarily need to access the net while out and about and cannot find any help elsewhere.

I like many of you am waiting for onestopphoneshop to deliver my m2000. They said yesterday that they might be in today.

Cheers

Wow, your phone history is almost exactly the same as mine - I joined here originally to get some help with my original SPV, which was a fun phone at first, but then just bloody annoying. I moved onto a P900 then as well, which I thought was nice but I'm bored of now, and I'm in the same boat as you now too, in that I'm bugging OCS most days trying to get me an M2000. Great minds eh?

The Blue Angel can indeed surf the net using GPRS - not too sure what you mean by needing a provider - essentially Orange will be your internet provider on the M2000 and so all you will need to do to hook up to the internet when you get the phone is to open internet explorer!

Regarding t-zones on t-mobile, I am actually currently waiting for my MDAiii to arrive (in the next hour or so), and so will be able to properly answer this question later. I am expecting that t-zones is simply the t-mobile website for mobiles, and so it would be initially set as your homepage - this you could change to google or whatever. However, from what I can work out about the cost of GPRS usage on t-mobile, I might not be able to surf for long!!

Hope this helps! :D

Ok folks, update on T-Mobile's MDA III and GPRS (web) cost...

It's true that T-Mobile are charging ALOT for a k of download of GPRS but having just come off the phone from customer service (who are porting my number over) I've been told I can have 10meg a month for £15. Alot of money I know but it'll make sure I'm never stung for the ridiculous pay as you go rate (hope I was wrong, and seems illogical given their bundles, but sounded around £7.50 a meg!!!!!).

From memory the smallest gprs bundle they offered me was £2 a meg...

EDIT: oh, and I forgot to say that my MDA III on arrival was all ready to go for internet browsing although at one point I thought it was only working on T-Zones. Thankfully that proved to be wrong as I was able to google successfully and even visit the Orange website!!!
