Considering how the PDA2K has improved in leaps and bounds over such a short time .... I cant wait for HTC to bring out their next new and improved JAM 2 !!

The form factor in my opinoin is near perfect :D

All they need to do is add more functionality (and reliablity) and they will kick all the other phone/pda manufacturers into the poor house :D

Improved specification I would like to see :

Even Longer Battery Life

Quad Band

EVDO

WiFi

FM Radio

Better Camera

Bigger RAM/ROM

More Accessories - cradle etc

Possibly the JAM 3 would include ....

TV Reception - Dont know why nobody has done this yet ?!

Built In GPS - as in the Garmin Ique ....

Built In Hard Drive - like the upcoming 10Gb MicroDrives :P

Ahhh..... finally the perfect PDA/Phone/Sat-Nav/Media-Player/Portable-Storage....device

Naturally the JAM 4 will come with a long legged, big breasted, blonde nymphomanic :D

Lol!

One of the first improvements I would like to see would be the feasability of adding a small thumb-board to it, a la the HTC Blue Angel. One of my colleagues loves my I-Mate Jam to bits and admitted he would buy it if it had the keyboard, since he is hopeless at handwriting recognition!!

Overall the key thing is device size. I wouldn't want to see this thing get even one millimeter bigger or one gram heavier. Its pretty much at the limit of "mini" size

I'd think the essentials are: 3G, Wi-fi and more RAM. I'd also like to see a P910-style scroll will with push-in selection. Marry that to a number selector software and That could be a good one-handed dialing and navigation device.

FM radio, nice, but honestly I wont miss it - not to mention people will then use the radio all day and compain about batter life! Cant have it both ways.

GPS would be lovely, but at what cost, not to mention how much bulk will that add?

More important also is the software. The device needs to me made more natural as a one-handed opration. The fact is that a lot of the notifications and check boxes are just too small to properly be one-haned.

Not to mention, that whole "Start Menu" crap is a dumb Micrsoft concept of keeping the Windows continuity- BUT hey this is NOT a PC! Its a hand-held device, and they should have been more intelligent in designing an OS that respects the ergonomics of hand device usage - which is frankly all about your thumbs. Navigating via a tiny-ass icon crushed into the top left side of the screen is just stupid on a phone Symbian OS is further ahead there.

But that's a Microsoft issue, which somewhat limts I-mate. Still I-mate could use things like a pushable scroll wheel on the side to get around it as I mentioned above.

To get around the start menu issue I have simply programmed the Record button to be the Start Menu button and you can then use the navigator pad to move the cursor up and down and select the option you need.

I wish that the OK/Accept button was mapped to OK in most applications and the basic OS though. That would be handy!

Dude !

The constantly accelerating march of technology would mean all these improvements would not increase the size or even cost of the device !!

Don't you remember the the first ever mobile phones that came out years ago !!

Electronics always get better and cheaper as time goes by .... which is sooo sweet :D

It ALWAYS has a price: sometimes its money, sometimes is bulk, sometimes (actually very often its battery life).

My old Visor edge could go 2-3 weeks without a recharge. A mere 2 years later my Tungsten E could not survive 2-3 days without a recharge. And that's par for the course these days with PDA's.

My Nokia 6100 can go easily 5-6 days without a charge. My old 6310i, the same or longer. 2 years later, my girlfriends Nokia 6230 cannot go past 3 days.

There's ALWAYS a price.....

True the battery technology hasn't been keeping up with the rest - but they will catch up eventually !!

One charge lasting for a whole week would do me just fine :D
