Guest rasterops Posted February 4, 2005 Report Share Posted February 4, 2005 Hi people. I'm getting the MPX220 right now but it come locked to cingular. I need to unlock it to tmobile. The store can not unlock them because they dont have the "software" yet. They allow me to exchange the phone within 5 days. The 5th day due today. I can get the mpx220 or get another phone up to me. Guess the phone still new so kinda hard to find stores that can unlock them. Went to this site: http://www.mobtec.net They responded to my email but so far no response from them on unlock code. I'm assuming some people in here had the mpx220 cingular unlocked to tmobile also. How did you do it? I'm in LA- California.. anybody knows any cellphone shops that can unlock mpx220 for sure? I only paid $140 for mpx220 and E398 (motorola mp3 phone-not sold in us) for my fiancee combined-with 1 year family plan. Liking the e398 mp3 phone also. http://direct.motorola.com/ENG/Web_Product...productid=29212 I finally got it unlocked by mobtec.net i was really sceptical because even the shop couldnt unlock it. but mobtec did it after i waited a week. they only need the IMEI number and emailed me after a week. I bought it at BESTproducts around nov 26th and am able to use it with different simm card. cingular told me they arent simm locking phones anymore. I tested it before i left the store. I am using it in asia now. before you buy this phone, be warned, the camera is LOUSY!!!! at night is unuseable, the flash doesnt help at all!!!!!! I bought it at BESTproducts around nov 26th and am able to use it with different simm card. cingular told me they arent simm locking phones anymore. I tested it before i left the store. I am using it in asia now. before you buy this phone, be warned, the camera is LOUSY!!!! at night is unuseable, the flash doesnt help at all!!!!!! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If you have a cingular account you can call cingular and request to get it unlocked, that is what i did and they sent me the unlock code via email! :lol: Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Guest Myrandex Posted March 23, 2005 Report Share Posted March 23, 2005 Well I have tried contacting Cingular about obtaining an unlock code for my MPX220, and all they have provided me with is the PUK number, and that isn't the one that I need :-/. I am currently an AT&T customer, and I aquired this Cingular phone for free. I also have a Cingular account in my name too (but that is really my g/f's phone that I got for her for a present, and she is paying for the payments and stuff like that, and the phone was free after mail in rebates....except buy.com wouldnt' tell you that it was after 180 days from purchase, so I am out $300 until then). So I went in through my cingular account to show that I am a cingular member to get the code, and then they won't give me the unlock code for my new phone, only for her phone :-/. Well it seems a phone swap might occur, but at least some progress has been made w/o having to pay the $65 to mobtec (too much for me).
