Questions about mda compact before i buy

I'm seriously tempted to get one of these little gems as my contract with O expired months ago and i'm fed up of waiting for the mpx220. Anyhow i'm wondering if you lot can clear up a few questions for me?

1) It's pocket pc isn't it? what difference will i notice having only ever used smartphone OS?

2) It's touch screen, how does this fair with games and my currently purchased smartphone titles, eg eclipse, snails, pocket minigolf etc? would i be able to get the pocket pc versions of these at no extra cost?

3) Does anyone know where i can get my grubby mits on one to try before i buy? it looks fairly sleek. The c500 is suprisingly dinky and from what i've seen the mda is only a little bit wider. Anyhow i'd like a feel for it. I don't want a recurence of the original SPV "is that a smartphone in your pocket or are you just pleased to see me!" syndrome.

Cheers all,

Mike

Forget the 220 mate, this is what you really want

1. You can get software from Handango but their are plenty of other places, eg. PocketGear, PocketGamer, ClickGamer, Handmark, the list is endless.

You will unfortunately have to shell out for stuff again as, apart from Muff's SPVInvaders & SPVMan I'm not aware of anythinig that is cross-platform compatible.

2. Games are more playable from my experience. Virtual Pool Mobile, Flux Challenge etc are a lot better on the Jam.

3. It's strange getting used to the stylus / screen combination, though you can use the directional button for most menus. Rather than scrolling and clicking you are tapping a simmering LCD screen which takes a bit of getting used to.

4. Now that o2, T-Mobile are selling them why not pop into one of their shops ?

Warning : once you've had one in your hand it's a done deal :(

Thanks for that

I didn't realise O2 were selling them (what do they call it?) and i've not been able to find it on either t-mobiles or O2s website, so i didn't know if they had them in the shops or not!

Sounds good to me :(

Yeh, i've had my eye on that thread! seems cheap on scancom!

O2 are calling it the xdaII mini if i'm not mistaken, but it's not launched yet. I may hangfire getting it on a t-mobile contract because O2 tend to have better tarrifs. Again there's no mention of it on either t-mobiles or O2s website from what i can see?! :-k

Mike

(i want tha' one!)

PS: how long much notice have i got to give to cancel my contract?
