I was under the impression that this package includes unlimited data connectivity. However I just checked the cingular website and noticed that they have a different package called "media net" and this was broken down into different bandwidth usages. I looked more into the "media net" package and looked at the listing of compatible phones. surprisingly the mpx220 isn't listed as one of the compatible phones! so i'm wondering if cingular changed the specifics of thier "media works" plan so that it now doesn't include data. or is the mpx220 in some loop hole that allows it to have unlimited internet while still on the "media works" plan. the difference between the two plans is 5 bucks so it isn't anything major, but i'd still like to know what the difference is if any. I have the unlimited data package and Media basic. Forget the website, it's hopeless and always out of date. Call Cingular serive or go to a store. Media net/works is purely for "mobile internet". Cingular tracks their data with two different values. One is for WAP and the other is for full web browsing via IE or whatever engine you use. If unlimited REAL internet use is what you need...inquire about the Unlimited Data connect for 39.99. The other MEdia packages are for checking email, downloading tones,games etc. Dont be fooled, it will cost you big time. All PDA's, blackberrys, and smartphones follow this same category. I asked him, "isn't it 20? i have unlimited data with text messages for only 20." he said, "that's cause you have a phone, not a pda" kinda snooty like, which is fine with me. i really do think the only difference is phone vs pda. if they want to consider it a phone then i don't mind paying 20 instead of 40. Just curious... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yup, the Unlomited data package applies to data flow from the internet. It DOESN"t cover text messages or MultiMedia Messaging, which I am interested in. BTW, I've confimed with CIngular that the "Unlimited Data" packaage covers essentially just the Internet access. Since I get my email via the Internet accessing an IMAP account, that gets me my email. To confuse everyone, Cingular has its own email service, which is different, and is NOT covered in this data package. TO use its "Express Mail" you need the other type of data package (that will also deliver Text and Multimedia messages). Simple isn't it. This is then fixed by reseting the phone. I called yesterday and was told that the reason for this is that I use the MEdiaWorks package which is not geared for the bandwidth I use, so it eventually chokes and refuses my connection. The support person said that the Media Net package would fix this. Also, I read on the website that with MediaNet you can receive both GPRS and voice calls? This is not currently the case with my phone. When a call is in progress, no GPRS connection can be made. Any ideas? Some months I hardly use any data transfer but recently I have basically been streaming music and using as a modem for mmy lappy. Definatly worth the $$ now!! No one, not even Cingular have a clue about this "MediaNet or MediaWorks" service! I have to at least once a day reboot my MPx220 if I want to connect to the internet or check my email via POP3. I think this happens after I move from area to area and thus lose service. I think because it picks up service again, it does not know how to handle a request for a connection till it reboots... We basically have all the features, Text, Multimedia, and Internet, and more importantly, if we're browsing the Internet, we can still receive a call, same with checking emails. I've tried everything possible and it is really frustrating. I can't rely on this phone as robust email solution since I may have emails that can't be delivered to me.
