guys,

I had my 1gig sd card for 2 weeks now.

The fist one i tried to format it with my 8390 and it is dead, and the storekeeper certified that it is dead.

Now the second one I used computer to format it fat32, and it is working. however, if i use a cardreader to transfer movies onto the card, the phone will not read it.

the alternative is to transfer thru activesync. but it keeps transfering and never finish until an error comes on.

is there a size limit to the activesync transfer?

or how can i utilize my sd card.

BTW it is sandisk 40x.

thank allya

I've always noticed that it has to be formatted RAW or FAT, not NTFS, not FAT32, nothing other than RAW or FAT, or you're going to have problems. I don't know if it's possible to format as RAW using a PC so that leaves FAT. I never bothered checking it in the 8390 as it had enough problems without my help but in the E200, if I format as FAT32, the phone can't write to the card or get a directory listing but it can read the files on the card. This was all using a 128mb card...I don't imagine a larger card being any easier.

I had a similar problem with my movies. I think you do need to activesync to get them on the phone, because it does some kind of conversion on the way so the phone can recognise them. I found when i tried to copy over full length movies that were about 300MB, it usually didn't work and only copied a tiny bit of the file, so i cut my movies into segments that are under 100MB (usually 2 or 3 a film) and these copy fine using active sync.

thank you guys .

To answer the question, I Use .avi edited by Virtual Dub which is the best i have used and free.

After a few more rounds of trials, I believe large files cannot be transfered by activesync. above 50mb is a nono. and I can't even transfer 10 songs together. one file 30mb might as well take 30 minutes. I have to drage each or two at a time.

but i didnt have this problem before because i used a card reader and without conversion by activesync, the phone will recognize content from my old card.

weird. but i'm gonna try different formatting wth the card.
