Nobody knows for sure (probably not even Orange themselves) but personally I doubt there will be an official WM5 upgrade for any existing smartphones.

celica1.8st, I dont think you should be posting information like that regarding the name......

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

operators will not release it. but many special people (developers) have their hands on it, I think its just a matter of time till its on the internet.

i had WM2003 on my MPx200. sure it was a little slower, but it definitely was worth it ;) now i can't wait for WM2005 (or 5.0 as they're calling it).

I've got the rom... for MPX200, and It's not working on my MPX220  ;)

That's pretty obvious just from the hardware point of view alone.

why would the operators be responsible for releasing the upgrade anyway? microsoft has to be much closer to the OEM's than the operators. the OEM's should be responible for hardware upgrades...

now, i'm sure that there are "incentives" between the OEM's and operators to not release any upgrades so that people have to buy new hardware, but come on... i'd pay $20 or $40 for a WM5 upgrade... that's definately more than the $2 to $3 original OS image license fee...

i don't know... i just think that the whole microsoft/OEM/operator relationship is all twisted and wrong... (at least for us "unpriveledged" developers)

@Spinekop:

You´ve got the Mobile 5.0 ROM for your MPX200 ???

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

i found the same rom, but i don't have a mpx200 anymore. i honestly don't think that the rom is true seeing as the wm2003 rom ran slow as crap on it, so why would there be a rom for the mpx200 (a dead phone if u ask me), and no other ones? plus the rom is a different version number than what's listen on msmobiles.com (but that was for the typhoon, not the mpx200).

I do have this rom file, i don't know if anyone can fix this with somekind of nbf-tool?? i heard the wm5.0 rom was the same for smartphones and pda's??

"This is the original unpatched ROM image converted to NBF file.

It would output "device authentication error".

Before installing ROM I recommend to backup the existing ROM

to SD-card. Later you can restore old ROM from SD. And you

would be able to reflash 2005 after restoring.

Before flashing you should delete all files from \Storage folder.

It would become a root directory of your device.

Known problems:

* Unable to sync with the desktop computer over USB

* cannot sync over BT (ActiveSync "sees" the device, but

disconnects immediately)

* Lots of compatibility issues with old programs.

For example Qkeys is not working, after installing all

SIPs disappear.

* Seems that BT is extremely unstable.

Unable to create a working COM-port connection.

* Backup program is taken from the old ROM and is not working.

Maybe creating an empty "\Storage" folder will help.

* Unable to make a hard reset. After installing Qkeys you have

to reflash old rom and then 2005 again to get a working OS.

* Camera application is extremely slow.

* You are unable to bind programs to "camera" and "record"

hardware buttons.

* Storage (root directory) size is only 14Mb, so you have to

install all programs to SD-card.

* "Extended_Rom" folder disappears and this space is wasted.

But it "returns" when you flash old ROM.

We don.t recommend to use this ROM. But it is a good experience

to install it and to see the benefits of 2005 OS.

setup.exe = ActiveSync 4

nk.nbf = Rom FILE

HimaUpgradeUt.exe = Updater

the only problem is that i don't get it to work on my c500... ;)

[edit..] already know why it doesnt work, diffrent cpu...
