Guest Shane
Am I correct in thinking that the £6 bundle of free usage GPRS ends on 31st March 2003. If so has anyone heard from Orange as to what happens next and at what cost. Or am I missing something here? Shane

Guest Simon Desser
No, I think 31st of March is the last time you can sign up for the £6.00 bundle, and it runs out at the end of April (I think)
Guest ajb3000
Then you will automatically be put on the £4/month for 2MB bundle.

Guest Honest John
I think I have lost the plot here. Help me out. What real purposes have you guys found for using GPRS on the SPV that would justify paying these extortionate prices to Orange from May? Obviously you all have PCs that, hopefully, have bigger screens and faster connections and I just can't for the life of me find a real, justifiable purpose for GPRS Internet connection at these prices and speeds on a small-screen phone. I would TRUTHFULLY like to have some serious, constructive replies, not just invective, as I am having a failure to identify worthwhile applications for this. Guest Will
in a word : EMAIL. - being able to go to pub while waiting for xxxx to send me a file, (i used to use sms alerts, but it's nice to send a quick reply back) other uses of gprs are faster?? (sometimes) net access when on the road, at clients locations. plus i can view MoDaCo, (even better when paul releases spv.modaco.com) also msn for bugging people accross the office:) Will [EDIT] being a smartarse by searching google for useless facts while in pub/waiting for the email!...[/EDIT]
Guest ajb3000
If you spend aa lot of time at home at the PC then your probably right. Personally I use it for e-mail when I'm away from home, I find the cinema and weather listings on the Orange portal usefull when I'm out with friends and we want to know whats showing and read some film reviews. Plus I like to keep up to date with the news. Also MSN Messenger is a usefull addition again when your away from the computer.
Guest Coolboy1982
well some people heavily use it (streams, etc) But I certainly don't need a big packet! Novelty factor weras of. So I will only occasionally use msn and receive some websites (without pictures) so 1MB should be fine for a stingy bastard like me. Still it may be interesting for some people to use more. After all some people might connect it to a laptop and surf whilst travelling, etc.
Guest Coolboy1982
in a word : EMAIL. well I still use notifyers, cause I get too much spam! don't wanna use up everything for that! I have set up emailing though to write some in "emergency" situations without a pc
Guest Bazz
I use the Orange portal for sports results, cinema times and occasionally news (if I'm really bored). Also occasionally browse around if I'm on a long journey. Mostly use my home/work PC, but it's handy to be able to do some stuff on the move. Guest Will
coolboy, get some decent spam stoppers... I don't think i could function professionally now without either a pda and compatible phone, or the spv. It sounds sad, but now my clients email me rather than calling.. and we both find it more effective. No more 'i'm returning your call, returning my call, which was in response to the answerphone message you left me, about the issue i left on your answerphone.' Guest SeeJ
Surely, the main benefit is having all these facilities while on the move? Most of us have phones in the house too, but we still pay for a mobile phone... If you can't justify paying for the GPRS (it is over-priced IMHO), then you can always cancel it. I will probably keep the £4/month bundle and use GPRS only when I REALLY have to, as the cost outwith the allocated download limit is extortionate. Isn't this just Orange's way of limiting their bandwith requirements?
