looked around the forums for a definite answer as to whether this was possible.  currently have wm2k3 se 2.02 and have tried the englishmp3 file thing with no luck, thanks in advance

Convert ringtones to wma and place in the \Windows\Rings folder.
If you want to add notifiction tones (eg new sms message) they should be wav files in the \Windows folder.

For easy conversion use dBpowerAMP Music Convertor + relevant codecs on your PC.
