Hi all, finally got my MDA Pro Delivered today, spent ages trying to convince my self that I could live with the size of the thing. Finally it has arrived and is much smaller than I imagined. Ok its a fair bit heavier than my M1000 but hardly any bigger. Don't know who measured the phone for the advert but it is only 22mm thick measuring it with a vernier at work, certainly not 25mm.

But the best suprise was that T-mobile include a 512mb Mini SD card with adapter in the box!! Am I lucky getting this or has anyone else recieved this as well.

Very impressed initially with the software, word, excel and file explorer seem much improved.

Now all I have to do is get TOMTOM working with my wired GPS mouse. :o

Hi GilesHopgood

Where did you get your phone from? How much and on what tarrif?

Do t-mobile still restrict their internet access ('walled garden')?

Excellent - I think Tmobile may finally have got me away from orange with their Web 'n' Walk package!

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

As I understand T-Mobile are not using a walled garden anymore 'see coolsmartphone'. As I primarily will use the phone on a wireless network for internet access, I have gone onto a standard 200 minute inclusive tarrif without the GPRS bundle. Buymobilephones.net - £139 for the phone and £29 a month tarrif with 6 months half price. I too was on orange for many years but am glad I have changed with their attitude when I cancelled my contract with them. If they want to keep customers, then get the phones out on time and with reasonable cost for existing customers.

Phone was in stock and delivered within 26 hours of placing the order. Well chuffed with the SD card being included. Has anyone else got an SD card with theirs as well? or is it something buymobiles add in? :o

How comes its not advertised on their website??

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

It's not very obvious - click on the web 'n' talk banner on the homepage, then you should be able to find it in there.

Nooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!

My MDA Pro Died Last night!! Excus the pun, but just got it out to show some one last night, only to find it had rebooted and is now stuck on the bootloader screen. Tried evrything, no matter how many times it has to be hard reset, still the same thing. Guess I'll have to wait days for a replacement now.

I've only owned it for 8 hours! Hope this is just a one off problem. Just going away to cry in a corner!

Word of Warning, buying phones from internet companys is not always great!!

Oh how I regreat buying my MDA Pro over the internet now. Been on to the supplier this morning only to be told they will not exchange the phone by courier anymore despite it being only working for a couple of hours. They now expect me to return it by post at my expense to them to look at, upon which they will send me out a new phone. This I don't expect to see for at least a week. In the mean time my number will be ported over to T-mobile and I will be left with no phone. Wonderful!

Perhaps I should have stayed with my M1000 and Orange. :x

That's why it's taken so long to release it then. When I worked at Orange, there were a whole department responsible for goods in. Didn't realise they'd cut back to the one person now. He must be very busy with Orange's release schedule this month......

There are plenty of M5000s at Orange at the moment, I was sent today an picture message from a mate at Orange showing several boxes. Unless Orange are fulfulling a large corporate order, I expect it will be released in the next few days. Hopefully within a week, it's going to be in my hands.

Do your MDA Pros have 3G and WiFi?

I know that might sound like a stupid question but the T-Mobile site does not include WiFi in the specs for the MDA Pro and it explicitly says it doesn't have 3G.

I'm just wondering if the T-Mobile version is a little different from Orange and O2, especially as T-Mobile shows the MDA Pro as 3 mm thinner and 70g lighter than the SPV and XDA.

I hope I'm wrong 'cos T-Mobile's price is very attractive (even more so as it's actually available).

When I had my unit yes it did have wifi. Hopefully my replacement will be here tuesday as the wifi was superb. Very quick and in landscape mode pages displayed fantastic. I assume it has the 3g, but never tested it.

As for the slimness, don't know if theirs a difference but I thought it was a lot slimmer than advertised as my wife commented that T-mobile said it was slimmer than the orange one. I measured it when it arrived and it was indeed only 22mm thick.

Giles.
