Wizard cheapest price watch !

[Note : I will try to edit this post on a constant basis to show here up to date information]

Hi,

I want to start a Wizard/Qtek 9100/Imate K-jam/MDA vario/... cheapest price watch for:

1. Sim Free devices

2. Devices that come with contract/service/monthly payment, where the cheapest price will be calculated as the minimum payment term cost. meaning: assuming you don't use the service, so you just add up the payments as if you payed them immediately. This one is a good comparison for example for international customers, who just want the phone, assuming of course that a way to unlock it will be found ...

If others have any other categories/ways of calculation that they want to see, you are welcome to suggest it.

I do not want to include delivery cost, since it will complicate things, and delivery cost depends on your location.

I will start, anyone who finds a cheaper price, please post it...

THE CHEAPEST WIZARDS FOR NOW !!! (Last updated: Dec 12 2005)

Category 1 - Sim Free and unlocked:

Qtek 9100 Link: http://www.phones2udirect.co.uk/Products/t...2/NetworkID/280

£367.99 (Including VAT) or in dollars:

~ $636.97

Category 2 - monthly pay phones minimum term cost:

MDA vario with U-fix 15 plan at www.scancom.co.uk

Link: http://www.scancom.co.uk/product.php/1202/...78f1b7a44864d34

£79.99/ £93.99 inc vat + 12 month payments of £15 including VAT= £273.99 or

$478.29 including VAT

Please send emails/distribute the cheapest prices as much as you can to sites like www.msmobiles.com with high number of readers in the hope that they will publish it and make other internet shops reduce the price due to competition because currently there are large variations between prices, and I want the prices to drop, but according to posts here many people still buy unnecessarily contract phones for 18 months with a much higher price !!!!

Hope this thread will help someone out there !

Category 2 - monthly pay phones minimum term cost:

MDA vario with U-fix 15 plan

£79.99/ £93.99 inc vat + 12 month payments of £15 = £273.99 (Note: I am not sure  if the 12 month payments include VAT, so sum maybe skewed, but still it is the cheapest Wizard you I have found, when this will be cleared out, I will calculate a dollars price, too lazy to do it now ...)

Hope this thread will help someone out there !

I got my 1st T-Mobile Bill today and can confirm that the 15 squid is inclusive of VAT, so I got mine on a 12 month contract for a total of £274. I don't reckon thats to bad ;)

I updated the first message and added the dollar amounts according to your clarification of the VAT issue.

In addition, I noticed only now that I forgot to write this deal is by "scancom", so I added a link to their product page. I am surprised that no-one from the many viewers has said that it is missing.

Sim Free Qtek 9100

£310 + 7.25 P&P + VAT = £72.77

Speak to James.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Please clarify these things:

1. The link you gave does not work for me.

2. I don't understand what is 7.25 P&P, can you explain, I am not from the UK or the US, so I am having problem with some acronyms that are a habit for you.

3. How does 310+ something adds up to only 72.77, is this a typing mistake, it should have been someting greater than 310?

4. Why do someone have to speak to James ?

I will try and help although I didn't post it.

1. The link works fine for me.

2. P&P is a UK term for Postage and Packing. May be know as shipping/delivery elsewhere.

3. It doesn't/can't. I think the 3 (hundred is missing)

£310 + £7.25 (P&P) + VAT (17.5% or £55.52) = 372.77

4. I assume James works were the link should take you and was particularly helpful.

I think you had another typo ;) , it should add up to 372, not 327

Now the link works for me. Probably there was some temporary problem with the connection to the site.

The site does not show/publicize the price, only give the spec of the product, and it does not say whether it sells to individuals or only resells to other companies. This is not an internet shop that shows the price, and there was no confirmation from others that it can be bought at that price.

In addition, since the difference from the current cheapest price is very small, I will not update currently the cheapest price shown at post #1 which is an internet shop doing international shipments accessible to the whole world.

If somebody thinks otherwise, you are welcome to comment.

Apologies for the language and typos.

They are a corporate supplier, and regular supplier of hardware to Internet shops.

They will supply single units - That's why I posted it ;-)

James does indeed work there - and was very helpful.

Good Luck

Thanks,

Since the price is not listed on their website, can anyone else confirm that he ordered there at the price En_croute suggested ?

I have updated the cheapest prices at the first message since www.smartdevicesdirect.com raised their Qtek 9100 prices, and www.madmonkeyboy.com reduced by $20 their Qtek 9100 price, so now they are both almost equal.

I wonder whether this thread had anything to do with these prices changes.

And again, don't forget, if you find cheaper prices post them here !

Well I think my deal is cheap, BUT that is because I needed a new contract....

MDA Vario for free (well, £5.99 delivery) direct from www.t-mobile.co.uk (not on website yet, call 08454 12 22 12

12 months at £16, 6 months (in the middle, months 10-15) are at £35 (acutally I think these will only be £32 but the site says £35

For this you get

40mb Internet with just £1/mb follow on rate.

200 Cross Net mins

Also, no costs upfront, just £5.99 and you have your Vario :-)))

I'm on the same deal as you (Web'n'Walk 200) but saved £5.99 delivery by buying in store. I know the contract is for 18 months but with T-Mobile you can change tariffs after 11 months. I'm not sure if that is the case with this deal but it could add opportunity to reduce costs further. Total cost over 18 months for me is £402 including taxes if I don't change tariff. It might be quite a bit less if I put my mind to it and I can downgrade after 11 months.

I could have saved £12 on Walk'n'Web 100 through the telesales route but think the extra £0.67 per month over the life of the contract is quite cheap for an extra 100 x-net anytime minutes per month.

I think downgrading has been effectively (and fairly) taken care of by T-Mob, as if you change down, you would lose the 40mb browsing.

At £402 I reckon it is a great deal considering all the time and MB you get.

Now, I just wish bloody T-Mobile would pull their finger out and turn the SIM card on :-((

Got the phone this AM (bloody good service, only called them at 4.30pm yesterday!) but still not connected.

May have to go unlock it if it is not on by later tonight :-))

True, if you downgrade to a non data tariff. But the £402 if for W&W 200 for which costs are....

9 months @ £16, 6 months @ £35, 3 months at £16 = £402.

If you can downgrade to W&W 100 after 11 months then it becomes....

9 months @ £16, 2 months @ £35, 4 months @ £28, 3 months @ £13 = £365 (assuming the downgrade continues on the same terms/payment profile as the original contract at the lower tariff rate, but I think perhaps it would not:-( )

I got the impression that reducing your tariff would make you lose the half price for the final 3months.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

That's exactly the way they explained it to me, in the T-Mobile shop. They said they did the 6 and 3 split rather than the first 9 months reduced, to stop people changing contract after a year.

Fair enough. I'm still happier paying £402 in total for my Vario together with a voice and data plan totalling 3,600 XNet minutes and 720MB data than the £470 wanted by Expansys for a K-Jam (£500 for a 9100!) with no voice or data included. What might the total cost be over 18 months for a K-Jam user - maybe £800 or so - and over half of that paid up front?

Fair point, and one that often gets overlooked I think. I'm gonna hunt around and try and get the best deal I can with T-mobile. The telesales arm weren't too interested in haggling unfortunately! :)

If I could get some texts thrown in each month on one of the web n walk tarrifs, I'd sign up straight away!

Let us all know, burnso, if you do get such a deal. I've read somewhere of one person who did.

I'll post whatever deal I take up too - since I've 99.99% decided to get the Vario - but I haven't seen anything including texts.

Hi all,

Just got a Free Vario on Web n Walk 200 at 18months half price and added the 100 text bundle to it from Mobileshop...

Works out at £25/month for 40mb Internet, 200 mins xnet, 100 texts...

Thought it was quite a good deal as over 12 months its £300 whereas UFix 15 is over 300 if u add in an extra 100 texts, but your still talking about 15mins talk, 125 texts and no web!

The web n walk 200 even works out cheaper than the web n walk 100 when u break it all down over 18 months

Cheers

Doesnt really help but i managed to get mine off ebay still sealed for £255

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Have you received the phone yet? I only ask because there seems to be a huge amount of what appears to be dodgy auctions going on at the moment for this make - mainly from China I think.
