The c600 is useless

I've had my c600 for a week now... I never thought i'd miss my rock stable c500...

I've experienced (but not limited too)

- random button presses when in bag - phone unlocking itself as the buttons are too easy to press

- blank text messages being recieved by others when in sent items i actually wrote something

- vice versa of the above

- many lockups

- the alarm is BLOODY USELESS as it doesn't loop like it used too..

- the backlight timer setting does NOTHING

The whole phone feels slower and less responsive too and the keypad is certianly a step back for someone like me.

Just needed to vent, sorry.

I agree, i've had mine for a day or so now and i'm getting the same sort of issues. My C500 seems much more stable and straight forward. It seems slow and clunky and that little nipple thing is a lot harder to use than the old rocker switch.

I'm trying to turn off the start menu grid view at the moment, hopefully that'll cheer me up when its done.

Oh well, i suppose every spv had problems when they came out - roll on the first software update....

I've had none of these problems with mine (bar the looping alarm issue, which has always been an issue, and can be fixed using CustomCabbage.co.uk).

I simply can't get used to texting on the C600. My fingers seem to hit the '0' and '#' keys instead of '8' and '9' meaning I get random + signs and spaces in my texts. It's driving me up the wall.

I'm very happy with my C600.

I have been a huge fan of my C500, however I have migrated to the C600 without any problems... I think it is a great phone.

When I tried to migrate from the C500 to the C550 I lasted 1 day before I binned the C550....

Orange should have missed out the C550 - I am sure the C600 would have even more impact than I think it is getting at the moment.

Just my opinion...

Cheers

A very good point of view .C600 will get the attention that C500 had ,but it will take some time as QVGA is at the begining . ;)

As a C550 user/owner I can tell you that your opinion is spot on.

The C550 just does not have the professional feel of the C500.

I have regretted upgrading when the C550 first hit the shelves, I didn't do enough research and blindly thought it woudl be an improvement over the C500. I coudln't have been more wrong. I hanker for my 500 back !!!!!

I'd miss the QVGA screen - that's all though.

If/when you get the chance ... the C600 is probably what you are looking for.

I like the professional feel etc of the C500 ...the C600 had this feel to it ...and it has the QVGA screen ;)

Its great...

Setting the alarm type to 'Increasing' would always loop the alarm for me, no tinkering with cabs needed. And even though its called increasing, i assumed that it would start quiet and get louder, but it doesnt do that either, just normal volume.

Texting on the C600 is getting me down. Today I thought I'd sent 2 texts which in fact hadn't been sent. On the C500 if a text failed to send a message telling you so appeared until you dismissed it. The C600 doesn't seem to be so robust at showing the failed SMS message. Also when I type quickly it just can't keep up and does random things - for example "chinese" comes out as "chime3" !!! Seriously thinking about sending it back.

i don't like it that when you start a text message it's in lowercase t9 mode... I'm sure my C500 would always start in upper?

Or have I missed a setting/tweak somewhere?

Mathew

P.S. Lower-case 'i' was intentional before anyone starts...! ;)

Mine says "t9" on the top right but if you put a full stop in it changes the first letter of the first word of that sentence to uppercase. Actually, that was what I observed for the first few days but now it seems to change the first letter to uppercase after I finish typing the first word. Odd.

I am finding the same problem on my C600, my C500 was great. Getting a new handset today as my 8 key is knackered

Gotten a bit more used to the speed and navigation of the system but i'm still mashing random keys when texting and one hand texting while XXXXX is out of the question, i've sent a few gibberish messages while driving.

Even my girlfriend who used to use my c500 often finally tried my c600 and to quote, said "this new phones rubbish".

I like the way T9 makes the first letter of the text upper case but it falls over if there's a ' in it. Stupid untested platform.

The botched T9 is annoying but I'm finding texting easier than on the C550 with less mis-hit keys. The problem I'm having is hitting the red key rather than the back key when I'm trying to make corrections.

Generally I'm a lot happier with the C600 now I've got a nice skin with my favourite plugins. If they can sort out ActiveSync then it will start to take over from the C500 as my favourite Smartphone.

I'm keeping my dusty old C500 alongside my C600. Battery life is getting worse and worse by the day for the year old C500 tho.

Has everyone forgotten how much everyone hated the rocker when it first came out? (resorting to pressing it with both thumbs to guarentee it pressing down?)

Also I can't get loads of software and emulators to run the same on the C600 :|

(I'm sure new releases will come out for these)

I do like the high res screen on the c600 tho ;)

I have had my C600 for a week now and I have to agree with the posts in here. Howerver I have been using some of the tweaks and tips in here and it is getting better. However the more tweaks I have been making, the more my C600 is beginning to resemble the C500

Ive copied the C500 Album.exe over from my old phone and also made the Start menu into a list. Ive also patched Pocket IE as it would not load up some of my websites which contain mainly graphics on the index pages.

On the plus side, my C500 was always unlocking the Keylock when it was in my Krussel pouch. The C600 does not do this as they have altered the keylock combination. Its irritating though as I keep going to press the # key instead of the * to unlock it. I'll get used to it eventualy.

The phone is still in its infancy so im sure things can only improve.

Having finally gotten settled with the phone it's started reseting itself back to the homescreen whenever i leave it idle for more than 2 seconds which is getting quite annoying.

To conclude now i've had the phone for a while IMO only 'upgrade' if your 500 is on it's last legs like mine was.

Now, to try and fix this annoying refresh-to-homescreen problem.

Sorry if this is not the fault, but look in Settings, Home Screen and make sure Time Out is set to Never.

Is it just me, or is the nipple simply not meant to be controlled with the thumb ? :?:
