Had a quick play with the new skype beta just now - it runs a little better - doesnt randomly reboot the phone anymore, but still not able to make smooth calls like I can with a more 'traditional' (sip) voip client (sjphone).

let me know if anyone fares better

Haven't tried 2 yet, but on the old version, the version for fast CPUs seemed to work slightly better (oddly!)
