Hi All

Just thinking of getting a PPC (qtek S200) and was wondering how good TS Client runs on the prophet?

Is it fast enough? (assuming your going over wifi or passthrough)

Can you rotate to landscape mode?

How good/ fast does panning around work?

Any other info on how it works?

thanks for any info you can provide

I used it a few times on my M500 over wi-fi and it was pretty good considering. The colours and what have you are all reduced but I coudl scroll around my xp box pretty easily.

Never seemed to be any bad lag, could use explorer and what have you. I imagine it's improved with the HTC Prophet and window mobile 5.0

Was there anything specific you were planning on doing or wanted to know

Thanks for the reply Furby!

I work in IT and often neet to TS to servers on our network, be it to creat a new user in AD or add someone to our exchange server. All our machines are on a domain so I wonder whats the story with connecting to them?

thanks for any help

I'm in IT and support a number of client sites 24/7 too, so TS is one of the requirements for the device I'll be getting (XDA Mini S - ordering next week).

If your network is locked down for domain access and you can't get TS to work, check out www.logmein.com - it gives remote access via HTTP tunnelling, and I've not found a network or firewall setting that it can't be accessed through. It also works on any browser (there's a firefox plugin, or you can run without any extra plugins - although the HTML and JAVA versions are sloooow). And best of all it's free. 8)

I connected on my home network, plugged in the wi-fi card and let the router do the rest. So didn't encounter any domain issues.

I simply put the pc to connect to in the server box (Ip address in this case) and then you're met with the logon screen, user and pass--> and it takes you to the desktop. Might sound a bit over the top but it's elegantly simple.

I think I got it to work with passthorugh but memory is a bit hazy, I'll try that out later and see if you can use landsacpe.

I'll see if I can get hold of a WM5 device and try it out. It'll definatelty be a cool thing to have if you get it to work

Actually, I'll pick your brains, if you don't mind. Given the news today that the Orange M600 is possibly hitting the shops next week, I'm now torn between getting that (newer, faster, prettier ;) ) and getting the XDA Mini S.

I'm going to use the device as a PDA, phone, and also for stuff like a bit of pocket messenger, some terminal service work to manage servers remotely, etc. So whilst the M600 is going to be faster, slicker, slightly smaller, and generally a better device, I'm wondering whether the XDA Mini S (aka Wizard) device might not be more suitable for what I need, simply on account of the keyboard (versus the lack of keyboard on the M600).

Other than the faster CPU, is the M600 likely to have any other killer features which will make it worth having over and above the Wizard-based device? If it's literally just a case of the M600 looking nicer and having a slightly faster CPU, then I might stick with the Wizard because of the easier data entry via the keyboard.

Anyone care to venture an opinion one way or the other? Be ideal if you've experienced both types of Device (i.e., a Wizard and a Prophet - or possibly an M500).

BTW, I'm slightly confused - I'm sure I read somewhere that the M600/Prophet have a 400Mhz CPU. Is this the case, or is it still a 200Mhz CPU (subject to overcloking ;) ) like the Wizard?

@ furby connecting to IP is of course how to do it, I should have thought of that  cheers!!

@ webreaper yeah the prophet is unfortunatly onlt a 200mhz processor, that and the 64mb of ram are the two thing holding me back from buying immediatly ..... I probably will anyway but have to think a bit more !!

cheers for the replys guys
