I was looking at several of the new WM5 phones and I am having a hard time deciding which one to get. I currently own a Imate Jam and I absolutely love the phone but I am looking to upgrade. Currently My top 4 are:

1. Eten G500

2. HTC Prophet aka Imate Jamin

3. HTC Hermes. . . Which I would be willing to wait for

4. HTC Wizard. . . Would rather the Hermes but My Jam is on it's last legs. . . sort of.

I guess my main question is does anyone have the G500 and if so what do you think about it. For instance, how is the battery life or I live in the US is there a GPS map package I can put on it.

Right now the G500 has mostly what I need/want minus a keyboard and the 2.0MP camera with flash but the GPS mor then makes up for it. Any comments or help is greatly appreciated.

Hello!

I have one G500 too! :)

I am happy with it. The batery life is not that good so far. I just bought it a couple days ago and because of that the batery hasn't reached it's best... :)

Although, I'm happy with it.

Some minor problems that i am facing:

-when i hold the stylus, the screen starts shivering...

-the plug that conects to the sync is "shared" by the power plug... ;)

-it does not come with a cradle :D I am used to the Qtek 2020 - XDAII in the states)

-the poor quality of the screen protector that comes with it

-poor quality of the headphones material.

And that's what i remember so far...

Keep in touch is you need.

All the best!

P.S. use the Tomtom 5.21, it's the best in my opinion. The TomTom5 version does not run on the WM5

So, i am the happy owener of g500. It is a very good phone.

Battery: holds 10 howers in read mode (reading a book), 2-3 days in normal mode (talk 1 hour per day, read 2 h. per day). In firm pack the are no GPS maps (I live in Ukraine). The only thing i have problem with is Bluetooth/

Easy transmit data from device to PC, but i can not transmit data in reverse direction (using standart Win XP bluetooth driver). Nevertheless I recommend this phone.

Hello from Romania,

I have a G500+ for almost 2 weeks now. The battery did not reached the real peak. I have traveld for about 500 km with the gps - not highway - and without car charger it worked for about 4 hours.

My ex-phone was a Nokia 6310i and now I am a little confused when working with the phone - searching for contacts with one hand is a little bit difficult - but again - I am not used with this new device.

On the other hand it is a mobile office - and its worth the money - thats for shure.

After conneting the cable to the pc and installing the Sync software, I was able to surf the net directly, without problems (GSM Internet is a littele bit expensiv and slow in Romania, and I receive hundreds of e-mails per day). As a travel sollution I see a travel e-mail account, and that is ok with GSM Internet and 2-10 mails/day.

It also make sense to connect to the Internet via Laptop + Bluetooth, but for the future I plan to buy a Mini-SD WiFi card, to acces directly the acces point. And the problem should be solved.

It is for shure that, by tweaking the system you get a really good butler.

What I did not find out is a good handwriting recognition - this I have to check in future. It can be my mistake.

Best regards,

Dan

I've also got one (for my wife). Has anybody seen the allegedly available new English ROM update?

I don't know if you'll be able to do this, but the Torq N100 is the Eten G500 in the US, you might be able to load a N100 Rom on the G500.

I never picked up the phone, I was waiting to see what other phones came out. Of course I modify my car too so I have to pick and choose between the two. LOL the phone lost and the car won. I am still using my I-mate Jam, I've been able to resurrect it several times, but I fear one day it's going to die and I'll have to go back to that aweful Mitac 8390. lol
