OK, two minor issues:

* Its actually 1 gig for £6 but its as close to unlimited as you're gonna get
* Its only available for 1 month!

I saw this on the Orange website in the new customers bit:

"WORLD CUP BUNDLE: Get 1GB of data for browsing all the news, live commentary and Sky Sports video clips in the World Cup section on Orange World. Plus get daily text alerts and a World Cup wallpaper. After the tournament you can follow your home team through the 2006/7 season at a cost of £4.00 a month for 4MB access to Orange World. £6 a month"

Amazingly, after phoning on the off chance, I was shocked when the Orange CS dude said it was available to existing customers as well!

£6 for 1000 meg sounds good to me anyway!

The package reverts to £4 for 4 meg after the month (but you can cancel anytime)

Oh, so they CAN do it then? Maybe after having tested the service for a month they will release it as a package. They are on a timer at the moment - sort out the data costs before TMob get a decent phone in the lineup or lose me as a customer for the next 18 months.

Agreed.

If it's like the 10meg for £6 for SPV users ages ago though... hopefully it'll take Orange 2 or 3 months to find the OFF button again?

Tar for bolding the £4 thing too :)

I can now test out my new GPRS-Car!

Orange Music Store / Any WM online radio stations --> 2.5-3.5 Jack converter --> 3.5 Earphones jack to L/R audio converter --> Line In --> Car Headunit --> Speakers.

Yay!

Ah - another one of those lovely Orange "sign up for the promo now, forget about it later and never cancel the subsequent 4mb bundle"

TRYs were brilliant for this.. as most ppl forget about it after a month!

I don't disagree - they are a business after all. But £4 for 4 meg isn't that much anyway, and most people on here are smarter than the average Orange punter (or CS rep!) surely - and will remember to cancel!

Found it, got it, done it :)

The OCS did have a little trouble finding the package, initially telling me it was £6 for 6Mb, but she eventually sorted it out.
A little care was required to ensure I didn't end up paying for the £4 bundle too, and to ensure the 'unlimited' bundle started straight away. I didn't want to end up shooting over my original 4Mb before the other one kicked in - I had horrors in my head of racking up a monster bill over 7 days ("I'll cancel this bundle for you now, sir, and that'll finish on the 14th. The new one will begin on the 15th...")

Here we go, here we go, here we go..... :)

Oh if Orange would only make this permanent....I'd keep my contract with them no problem. But if it doesn't happen....it's off to T-Mobile for the Web and Walk. GPRS costs just too much (£4 for 4Mb should be made a criminal offence :) ) and it seems T-Mob are the only company to have woken up to this fact.

Wake up Orange....match T-Mobile or lose a shed load of customers (me included!).

P.S. I will be signing up for the 1Gb deal...then cancelling once it's up! :)

Yeah I got the busy message - but was put through immediately on 150*

I just said

Me:"I've seen an offer on the new customers bit of the website, called the "World Cup Bundle"
Orange:"Yes sir"
Me:"Is it available to existing customers?"
Orange:"Yes it is"
Me
Me: "What?!"
Orange:"Its available to all customers"
Me: "Sign me up"

As per usual I guess it depends on which operator you get, as to whether they have a clue what your on about!

*Has anyone noticed you can access the broadband stuff on 150 now?

On T-Mob... 273+ Mb of data for £1... Decisions, Decisions! :)

Recently I discovered that 'O' had managed to put 2 identical data tariffs on my account for the last 18 months. I asked how this was possible and the CS drone says, "it shouldn't be". Oh, right. So naturally I asked for a refund. Apparently they could only refund the last 3 months. Now granted I should have checked my bill more carefully, but that is £60 of my hard earned that is swelling their coffers. Another nail in the coffin of the sinking ship that is O.

What is wrong... … with this sentence:

Its actually 1 gig for £6 but its as close to unlimited as you’re gonna get

Exceptionally I will give answer myself in advance: this is wrong: it is big bullsh-t and totally wrong. Unlimited = 5-6 GB with HSDPA, EDGE or UMTS burned in 2-5 days when travelling excessively. 1GB never ever can be called “unlimited”. In other words: this is big bullsh-t.

PS. I have unlimited UMTS from German operator E-Plus so I know what true unlimited is. However I am angry that E-Plus is not launching HSDPA (although both T-Mobile and Vodafone launched it already in Germany) so I will have to dump them…

:)

Well, given that point of view how is 5-6 Gb unlimited?????????? If you take that stance only unlimited would be unlimited. Hey ho, some people are luckier than us poor schmos in the UK when it comes to data pricing.
