I contacted Motorola's technical support for data and software, after being referred to them by Verizon Tech support.  Motorola said that the Q is not a locked phone, and was designed to only support certified programs.  They indicated that you can't unlock an application because its not locked.

To unlock:
Use a Registry Editor and change the following:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Policies\Policies:
Change the DWORD named "1001" to 1
Change the DWORD named "1005" to 40

Thanks for your response.  Have you install the Sniper on your Q and does it work?

Finally,  can you recommend a registery ediitor program for the Q and if possible can you add the link for the download?

  • Interests:The details of my life are quite inconsequential... very well, where do I begin? My father was a relentlessly self-improving boulangerie owner from Belgium with low grade narcolepsy and a penchant for buggery. My mother was a fifteen year old French prostitute named Chloe with webbed feet. My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. My childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When I was insolent I was placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds- pretty standard really. At the age of twelve I received my first scribe. At the age of fourteen a Zoroastrian named Vilma ritualistically shaved my testicles. There really is nothing like a shorn scrotum... it's breathtaking- I highly suggest you try it.

I hope this helps.....it worked for me

Your Windows Mobile Smartphone is application locked, meaning that you can’t
install unsigned applications, games or tweaks? No problem! In this little
tutorial I will show you how you can application unlock your phone with a
couple of simple Registry edits.

First you need a trusted Registry Editor for your Smartphone.
I recommend the original “Regedit STG” from HTC. You can download it
from here [3] or here [1] (please report if links are broken) or just Google for it.

After you have downloaded “Regedit STG” the application unlock process can start.

1) Simply put the *.zip file with the regeditSTG.exe in it with ActiveSync
into a folder on your phone (but not onto the memory card).

2) Unzip the file with the *.zip program that comes with your phone.

3) Now start regeditSTG.exe and change the following Registry Keys:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Policies\Policies0001001 = 2
-> Change the value data from 2 to 1

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Policies\Policies0001005 = 16
-> Change the value data from 16 to 40

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Policies\Policies0001017 = 128
-> Change the value data from 128 to 144

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \Security\Policies\Policies
-> Add new value "0000101b": Dword = 1

After you have done all these steps close Regedit STG with the
task manager (TaskMan) of your phone and reboot. That’s it.
Your phone is now totally application unlocked.

I dont get what I'm missing, I followed these steps and I still get access denied because its not signed... what did I miss. I have a Q with the latest update as far as i know, is that the problem?
