Give us a clue as to how many minutes (and to whom) how many texts, how much data etc?
I currently have a Motorolla timeport 250e from about 1998/99. I've really not had a need to upgrade before but the phone is becoming faulty now plus I said I would always hold out until a good Windows Mobile phone appeared on the market - was waiting for the seemingly never to arrive in the UK Motorola Q. Had a look at the 600(?) last week oddly enough but the lack of keyboard was a no no.
I have been with Orange since about 1998, am on a business tariff and pay about £25 a month but I usually have loads of minutes left over that I never use - mainly because I use the phone for incoming business calls, hardly ever call out on it and cannot remember the last time I texted BUT... I am about to change my business line - offering PC support to home users and SMEs instead of being a callous IT contractor - and I suspect I will have not just a greater need for texting but also in making outgoing calls to customers/clients. I also want to be able to use Microsoft Messenger on the phone also.
I've noticed a big difference between Orange's business tariffs and their new animal ones. The business tariffs now look ridiculously expensive - on Scan's website they are offering the M3100 free with business tariffs - and this is even with a half-price rate for X months offer which closes at the end of the month. I wonder if Orange is about to change its business tariffs as they are not competitive.
I intend to ring them and find out what deal they are going to offer. I really do not want a 18 month contract as I suspect mobile phone costs will fall dramatically in the coming year - they have to. At the same time I do not aim to pay Orange's, IMPO, over-priced business rates, especially since they have brought in the animal tariffs... So, I have no idea which way to go...
I keep remembering some consumer survey a few years back that said mobile phone costs were deilberately difficult to understand and that reading them all would literally take someone a LIFE TIME to read through.
