1) Do T Mobile do Orange Care style insurance? How much?

5) I base these deals on the fact Orange and TMobile both are unable/cannot be arsed to check if I use data for modem access or streaming services. Tmobile have a limit of 2gig, Orange is not specified.

2) Pretty much what you said (where Orange struggle T-Mobile will be there :) ). My experience of T-Mobile reception wise has been that they are fine as long you don't breakdown in Scotland!

3) What issues are you referring to with T-Mobile's data network? Never had any problems. I HAVE however read suggestions of email/mms problems by some members of MoDaCo.

4) HSDPA is already rolled out on T-Mobile and available through their

The Doctor: Have updated the insurance prices - thanks for that. Orange Unlimited is basically equiv. wnw standard. However, Orange Data CS admit all orange know is how much you use, not what your using it for. I suspect, like tmobile, its almost a scare tactic to try and put people off. As I said, I will be using it for IM, and possibly modem/streaming services. Bad boy.

Know what you mean. Flext and Web N Walk are both incredible value. Just as long as it doesn't result in lack of investment in the T-Mobile infrastructure... :)

Since getting my 3100 last week, I have been very impressed with Os' 3g coverage.

I tried a 3g handset with them about a year ago and maybe it was a bad handset but I didnt get 3g at home (in SW London) and coverage elsewhere seemed intermittent.

I now have full signal strength at home, and have only seen the handset switch to GPRS twice when out and about - and when it did the call/directpush worked seamlessly.

I have heard that O'sinsurance is significantly better than T's - with O replacing handsets a lot quicker (and with a lot less arguing).

(And of course one mustn't forget the O handset is actually good looking - which is important when you are carrying a fairly large peice of kit around with you).

jimbo: Yep "3G Orange" connects even in my house, which isn't completely out of the way, but is about 25 miles from any big town, and about 5 miles from a medium sized town. Its dodgy on my C600 - but 3g seems fine.

As much as I am moderately happy with Orange's service, and have been with them for donkeys years, I feel I have no choice but to migrate to T-Mobile for the unlimited data.

I recently got myself a T-Mobile PAYG SIM so I could test their coverage at home and round and about. It seems OK, but I'm worried that I may migrate, and then find out in a longer-term test, that it's no so good.

In the event that I've signed up for 12 or 18 months and ported my orange number to T-Mobile, and then become unhappy with the service - Is there anything I can do to get my number ported back to Orange or another provider before the 12 or 18 months is up? I accept that the T-Mobile contract would need to be paid up.

They will waive an excess once, then never again. At least in my experience. Care is free on the 12 month Panthers isn't it? Fairly sure its in the details of the tariff IIRC.

i think its 18 months... and ive had it waived a few times. could be once per contract, but could be even more than that to be honest.

Yeah but for the sake of a quid a week you're not going to argue if you get *exactly* the same handset in 24 hours or less, are you? I mean, how long does it take to process the average insurance claim?

Plus what would the initial excess be?
