Guest bigdan
I purchased a 1gb Micro SD and promptly stuffed it with a few freeware apps and plenty of MP3's. When I rebooted, my M3100 asked if I wanted to search my new card for music files, I accepted, it searched and found all my files, but then told me I didn't have enough memory to add the files to my library. Since then, I can't select 'My Storage Card' in Media Player. Why has it dis-apeared.

Ended up formatting the card and every thing was dandy! I am very keen to hear other experiacnes.
Guest kvl
Hey, This is the same problem I posted about further down. I formatted to solve the problem, however a couple of days later - same problem. Must admit annoying, it have to search in file explorer to find the file or play from Voice Command! If anyone has a suggestion how to solve this permanently?!?
Guest NikLP
Try checking how much memory you're actually using in the phone - if WMP is borking because of memory, it might be that you've got so much stuff running in the phone memory that it can't cope. So, you might need to install some stuff onto Storage Card instead of Storage. Also, you can have a go at removing some of the stuff from the Extended_ROM if you wish, as this will provide you with extra space to install some programs. (See Paul's post in this subforum about this matter) Furthermore, don't format your cards with the built in Windows Explorer format, as apparently this is pretty flaky and can even render your card unusable - which is nice. Go find HP's format utility and use that. The app installer is called SP27213.exe, the app is "Windows-based Format Utility for HP Drive Key or DiskOnKey USB Device". You can find it at this page; if it gives you an error when you get there just go to hp.com and poke about. Not a direct answer to your question but might be helpful. Guest jimbouk
SPB Pocketplus (and probably some other apps) add the format function. As long as the card is actually seen by the device (ie its not so corrupted that the device doesn't think there's a card in there) then format appears on the menu options. Yes what he said, plus if by this ^ you mean "at the moment", I'd wait. Get the app I pointed to and use that.

Hi, got my adaptor & Card Reader now, download the said program. What option do I use to format? (FAT / FAT32 / NTFS)
Guest jimbouk
Whilst most devices and cards can use FAT32, its recommended to use FAT for cheaper cards.

Is there an issue with capacity there? Someone else posted in this forum with another question saying they'd reformatted and got an extra 10% or something? Or is that just another crap card scenario maybes?

I've just hit the same problem - worked fine initially, then suddenly the library was empty. Anyone worked out whether this is a Tytn or micro SD problem (or both?) Very annoying having to format the card, as some of my apps are installed on it.

Guest NikLP
Just noticed my library seems empty - however it isn't. In WMP10 on WM2003SE(PPE) the library auto-includes everything into 'All Music' etc (or so it appears, I don't store music anywhere else). In WMP10 on WM5 it looks like eveything is seperated out. If you check your Library pull down, oftern Storage Card is not selected. Try selecting this and then navigate through the 'All Music'/'Album by Genre' etc again and see if you get any joy. I can't see why it does this, it's not different software is it? Bloody irritating anyway. I'm cross-posting this into the bugs thread anyway cos I think it's crap. Guest rpopo
This is clearly a windows media problem, not a problem with the card. Just installed Mort player and all is fine (without reformatting)
Guest xeron
You do not need to reformat your card. Just delete the MSMETADATA folder on the storage card and then run the update library option on your PPC. It'll work again... for a while :D

It's worked for me! Thanks for figuring that one out xeron. For everyone else make sure in file explorer you click menu->'show all files' as the msmetadeta folder is hidden. As you said NikLP it shouldn't have to be done!!! Someone at T-mobile/HTC better fix this annoying bug and quick. :D
Guest randomelements
Someone at T-mobile/HTC better fix this annoying bug and quick. :D It's not TM or HTC who need to address this unless it's the way the phone reads the card. The issue is that the library meta data is becoming corrupted and WMP can't read it. So, it's either a bug with WM5, a bug with WMP or a problem with the phone reading the card causing the data to become corrupted (but if this was the case, why don't any other files get damaged?)
