Have seen 1.4 megabits per second, now it is around 850 kb

T-Mob WnW Pro

Don't know why it takes ages connecting to some web sites though, even after the dns tweaks, hmm

It doesn't matter which web'n'walk you're on - all are entitled to get HSDPA

My results, on an unlocked M3100:

Orange: 290.8 kilobits

T-Mobile: 1.1 megabits (using original web'n'walk 400 mins + 40 meg data plan)

I'm having problems using www.bandwidthplace.com - no matter what settings I select on the page, I get a "bad results" message. Can someone enlighten me?

[EDIT]

Ok, forget that, I just tried it again and it seems to be working today. Results on my Vario II, HSDPA on, are:

Comms: 947.9 kbps

Storage: 115.7 kbps

1Mb File in: 8.9 secs

Central London, 4 bars, 3G, T-Mob

Vario II

T-Mobile WnW Pro

3G symbol and 2 bars signal just (sometimes dropping to 1 bar)

Comms 1.2 Mb/s

Storage 149.5 kB/s

1 MB DL 6.9 s

I don't know how reliable bandwidthplace is though. I don't get relistic results with it on my home NTL broadband.

Would be good if we could find another that works better and runs in PIE.

[Edit:] Just connected Vario II as a USB Modem to my PC so I could use the IE7 to get an adslguide.org report. This gives upload speed as well. The phone is in exactly the same location and I get:

Downstream 796.9 Kbps ( = 0.8 Mbps ) = :D

Upstream 357.4 Kbps ( = 0.3 Mbps ) = :D

Then did bandwidthplace again from IE7 and got similar, but when I clicked start a second time I got this:

I s*** you not!

My results from www.bandwidthplace.com using Wireless 3G download setting

Vario II wnw

Communications 1.4 megabits per second

Storage 175 kilobytes per second

1 mb file download 5.8 seconds

When its good its very good but when its bad......

First attempt produced error code 0x80072f78 'cant load page' message which is so common but TM support dont know what it signifies. And getting 20mins of www then not working for 10 mins.

PS dslreports.com mobile speed test = 236 kbps, INSIST ON RETEST = 981 kbps thats better.

Guest andyr250471

hi

on vodafone get Comms: 947.9 kbps

phone is not hsdpa enabled by default on vodafone and I have NOT used the reg hack to do this.

Why is this so fast? I thought 3G was limited to around 400K.

Any thoughts

cheers

1.2 megabits

149.5 kilobytes per second

1MB in 6.9s

2 bars - Worcester

WnW std without asking T-mobile to activate HSDPA

Think we might need a more accurate speed testing site???

770kbps here...

Interesting?

I now got 705Kbps (2 bars)

Network traffic?

If this figure is true, although not that high, I assume I'm using HSDPA even tho' I havent specifically asked T-mobile to enable it.

Otherwise the max. would be 384Kbps? :D
