2gb mini sd problem :S

I got the V1240 (similair to 8310 and SP5)

I finally received my NCP 2GB mini sd card today.

I loaded it in the phone and the phone found it.

Then I transfered some mp3's over to the memory card via activesync and opened them in WMP.

And the sound is blurry :S It looks like that the mp3's are damaged.

I tried pictures also, the pictures gets damaged.

Putting the minisd in my memorycard reader and connect it to my computer.

The files are damaged. I've tried to format it with FAT and FAT32 and do it all over again. Same problem.

If I transfer some mp3s from my computer via the memorycard reader, the mp3s plays fine on my COMPUTER.

But when I put it back in the phone, the mp3s gets damaged again:(

Anyone got any suggestions, or do I have to buy me a SanDisk card ? :D

Could it be something wrong with my phone?

Last night I bought the Patriot MiniSD card from Frys and I haven't had any problems with it. I think you received a damaged card. Hopefully you can have it replaced.

BTW the 2GB Patriot Cards are only 49.99$ right now at Frys.

But the memorycard works fine with my memorycard reader.

The files are 100% OK before I put the card into my phone.

After i've tried to open the files in my phone, the files gets damaged.

Playback of mp3s etc from my phone memory works great though :S

Edit: This is how my pictures looks AFTER opening them in my phone: http://img423.imageshack.us/img423/7127/photo0003hc7.jpg

Okay, I want to know a few things because it might not all be the card's fault. You have formated the card with what? Card reader or phone? You put the files directly on card or on the phone first? When you take a picture and save on the card, what happens to the picture? If you did everything from the phone (file transfer, take picture, formating) and you get a problem, maybe because your phone has a faulty reader. If you do everything with a memory card reader and get damaged files but taking pictures is okay, then your memory card reader is damaged.

I formated the card with my cardreader. Couldnt get SPTaskManager to format it (Error while formatting the card!).

I put the files directly to my card, but I also tried to put it in the phone memory first, then move it to the memorycard in file explorer.

I took some pictures, saving them directly on my memorycard.

The first picture where OK, but after I took the second, my memorycard stopped responding on my phone. (Couldn't open file! error messages).

Is there any other programs for formatting memorycard from the phone?

I think your phone has a faulty reader/writer. Test to see if you can files from your card reader right after you put them on.

After i put files on the card via my card reader, the files are all OK on my computer. I've tried several mp3's, videos and pictures, all ok.

I put the card into my phone, and i can see the files from file explorer, but when i open them, they are damaged. mp3s gets weird, pictures gets stripes and videos is lagging badly.

Could it be that the card isnt compatible with this phone?

Never heard of 'NCP' brand before:S

why do you all format your cards i just stick them straight in the phone and I have not had any problems with any of them I even had a 2 gb working on an mpx220 that was until some dope said you should always format your card...and guess what the mpx could only handle half the capacity of the card My wife has the mpx and is happy with her 1gb but me I will never ever format a card again unless its coruppted and needs to be done

I think you formated your card with wrong sector size/allocation unit size or file system (FAT/FAT32). That is what happened with the NVFS memory of the Palm Treo 650 in the early days and was later fixed.

Also not all cardreaders can handle bigger cards as 1 GB. When I first received my 2 GB card I had a lot of errors too. Changing my cardreader solved the problem.

You mean my usb cardreader?

It seems to work fine. It finds 1.89GB and I can transfer stuff on to it without damaging the files.

The files dosn't get damaged untill my phone opens them.

Hmm. I tried now to put about 900MB on the memorycard, from my card reader, but I can only transfer 250MB on it, before I get an write error.

And then all the files on the memorycard are damaged.

I guess its something wrong with my card then. I will contact the seller and try to get an replacement.

try using the wm5torage and with the phone connected to pc format the card from pc then try to copy something big on the phone (even it take longer than cardreader but making this is sure to see if the card is broken)

I tried formatting it via WM5torage but it failed to format.

Now I can't access the card, or format it via my cardreader either.

It must be the card?

Did you ever figure out what was wrong?

But the new card worked 100% in my phone!

Now I have about 1.90GB to play with
