Guest Markda2000 Posted October 25, 2006 Report Share Posted October 25, 2006 My Mda Pro has for the last couple of weeks decided to resest at 36% charge and then will die altogether. My use of the device is the same as it always has been and is where I would expect 36% charge to be. ie I don't think the battery meter is inaccurate. Ussually fine until I receive a text or send an email then it resets and wont reboot until plugged in. Thought it might b because I was out of memeory but have replaced the ROM and wiped the machine and it's still doing it - VERY frustrating. Guest Ingvarr Posted October 26, 2006 Report Share Posted October 26, 2006 (edited) Another possibility is a faulty or badly designed battery calibration software. Looks like battery capacity is reduced (and it should, after that time), but PDA doesn't "learn" about it, it still thinks battery is like brand new and so it overestimates the runtime. Hard reset, removal/wait/reinserting of the battery, and making the full discharge cycle may help. Though when battery is very deteriorated (near-discharge voltage is still nominal, but battery can't provide the needed wattage anymore), its often the same sympthoms (early shutoff), so its hard to tell. Hi, Over at XDA Developers forum - there have been hundreds of posts about this issue (About 4 threads) The net result is that you need a new battery! Thats all thats wrong - the ROM is fine, the unit itself is fine - its just the battery is not providing enough power to the unit so it resets!! Matt I rang Tmobile regarding mine, and they checked the warranty (2years they stated) and sent a battery out in the post, with out any debate. Great service Tmobile, Like to see that from Orange. Great service Tmobile, Like to see that from Orange. Mine's an O2 Exec but I bought it off eBay so don't have a warranty - looks like it'e eBay again for a battery. Oh well my old one had a dent in the top and the screen was rather wobbley, think Im just going to plump for a new battery from ebay, can get them for about £5 ish.
