Just wondered if any one has one of these & is it any good? They are £200 on Expansys now which seems a bit of a bargain.

I cant believe that no one has one, or maybe they just wont admit it!

Well if the conclusions in nedge's review don't put you off, try reading the Expansys support forum or the pockectpcdubai forums linked in the msmobiles review comments. There is plenty of user feedback there, and it's pretty much all negative. So unless you have money to burn, avoid.

I thought the review by nedge was pretty good, the texting issue doesnt bother me too much, I dont send many. The loose slide may be a problem, but there is no such thing as perfection, every new phone that is released seems to have some problems. Do you have a link to msmobiles review comments, I cant find it Thanks

Maybe it's me putting too much emphasis on the review's conclusions, but if a review sums up by saying all the good things are outweighed by the problems (which will never be fixed) then it rings real warning bells. The concept is good, but I don't see many satisfied comments from users.

Thanks Metoo, I did find those reviews you posted & reading between the lines I didnt find too much to bother me so I ordered one, should arrive tomorrow! The new HTC tytn/SPV M3100.. seems to have quite a few problems like screen alignment, loose slide etc & that costs loads more than the Ubiquio, if its really bad I'll send it back!!

In that case, look forward to seeing your comments! It will be interesting to see if Expansys have made any improvements before slapping their branding on.

Edit: just spotted this comment lurking under the "401 Pocket PC Phone + Deluxe Accessories Pack" section. Doesn't sound promising...

Yes I had read the comments there. I have now got my Ubiquio, only been playing for a while, so far I am very pleased with it! To address the comments made on the forum:

1: Poor build quality/loose slide. Yes my slide has a little sideways movement, nothing to worry about, so do a lot of other slide phones.

2: Paint starting to come off..... Obviously too early to tell, but the paint started wearing off my SE K750i within a few weeks!

3: Desktop cradle works fine

4: Desktop cradle doesnt need a mains adaptor, the phone charges via usb!

5: Can't test camera 1gb card problem yet

6: There is a bit of lag on the keypad, but it's not too bad, whats the rush!!

Its a typical windows based phone, not perfect, but so far I really like it & the TV is really quite good.

Do NOT get this pos...it's not worth it...like they said, the slider is bad, the 5way joystick is more like a 3 1/2 way pain stick, and for a device with 400+mhz it's slower than my grandmother...get something else...anything from htc, or HP, or ASUS, or even Siemens is better...

Scorpy... I'm interested in getting one of these phones. How are you finding yours on months down the line?? Still enjoying it?

Also does it have a TV Tuner in it?? I read somewhere that it does?!

I still quite like the Ubiquio, but I don't normally use it as my main phone due to the size & weight. It is a bit "clunky" in use & the keypad is a bit slow for texting, the tv works ok as does everything else really. I wouldn't describe it as awful though!

Hi all my son has one of these, like most of you say its not perfect but its ok.

Its a bit chunky, it only has 64Mb of memory so don't go mad with it, I find the telescopic stylus a bit too small but its one of the few phones around with stereo speakers, it has a dedicated missed call light and its one of the few Windows devices with a macro mode on the camera and flash and you can get the mini-sd card out without taking the phone apart.

In a nutshell, not too bad as long as you don't expect the earth and they should be quite cheap now

Yeah I think they should be quite cheap now? Paul... You reckon they're awful??

I guess due to the fact that most of you guys rubbish it more than praise it then I'll hang on and save up for either of my other choices.

Currently I've got a SPV C550, going to change to either a XDA Mini S / Qtek 9100 phone OR HTC S710.

Any recommendations on those?? I would be using mobile internet a bit so I'm leaning towards the Mini S / 9100

What's your budget?

The P4350 is a better device than the Mini S / 9100.

If you're using mobile web a lot you probably want a PPC rather than Smartphone (i.e. S710)

The P4350 looks quite nice, looks the same as the new M700 released on Orange? Is it the one with built in GPS?

My budget is gonna be around £150 I would say, I'm buying second hand... probably off Ebay. With all the different names for the same models you can pick some up cheap if you know what the names are.

The reason I liked the Mini S / 9100 was because of the size of the device. Not that much bigger than the S710 but it has the PDA functionality which is great. With the S710 you're limited as to what you can achieve. I have TomTom installed on my SPV C550 at the moment and can view .pdf and Excel files but its fiddly with a joystick so the functionality of a touchscreen (and of course its a bigger screen) will help a great deal.

Do any of the phones allow you to output whats on the screen?? Say to a PC Monitor or TV or something?? Would be useful as I deal with a few presentations, so loading them up on Powerpoint on the device and pushing the image through a Projector / TV would be amazing!!

What do you make of the Palm 750?? That runs Windows Mobile? I still want to be able to install TomTom onto the device I end up buying?

P4350 is a very different beast to the M700. The P4350 is basically a thin Mini S that will be getting WM6.

No TV / Monitor output on any devices yet except the HTC Advantage / T-Mobile Ameo.

Treo 750 is OK, bit chunky tho. It runs the standard PPC OS, i'd have a P4350 over the 750 any day.

Thanks Paul

Strange that NO device apart from those 2 have TV OUT on them?? even the Samsung general mobile phone range has TV OUT?!!

If this is the HTC 4350 then it is very nice... however its going to be out of my price range

Might think the Mini S / 9100 is going to be the best bet on a phone/PDA device within my price bracket??

I'm hoping to borrow one in the next few days to see what its like.

Can you edit MS Office documents on it or just view??

Also how about Sat Nav? Will TomTom be able to be installed on it?

Have you considered a Hermes type device? I just bought a SPV M3100 from a guy of ebay for £175 and upgraded it to WM6  Not official, but I see it as being second-hand and therefore no warranty...so what the hell! Not tried TomTom on it yet but sure it'll be fine as it has a 400Mhz Samsung processor. Bit fatter than SPV M600 (Prophet) but has keyboard which is great (never used a keyboard device before but I find it to be very good, especially with MSN). Have found battery life to be a bit short (needs charging every night) but that is being connected to MSN constantly.

The problem I found is that the CPU runs at different speeds and is not consistant.

I tried the latest release of XCPUscaler but that just crashed the ppc.

Is there another software or an older release of XCPUscaler that works and will keep the CPU speed at a set level ?
