I have finaly managed to unlock my phone with out resorting to patched rom files. What you need to do is:-

1) Contact Orange Developers and ask for a Security level changer.

2) Set your security level to low.

3) Download BreakSoft Mobile Registry Editor, see below.

4) Connect your phone to your computer and run the Registry Editor

5) Change the following keys

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Policies\Policies\00001001
-> Change the value data to 1

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Policies\Policies\00001005
-> Change the value data to 40

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Policies\Policies\00001017
-> Change the value data to 144

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \Security\Policies\Policies
-> Add new value "0000101b": Dword = 1

6) Unplug your phone and restart it.

You should now be fully application unlocked!

OMG dude you rock! I shall bow down before you and call you a God! Thank you so much. Even after the developer app from Orange came through I still couldn't install Windows Live beta. Now I can and oh yes it looks goooooooood. Thank you thank you thank you.

That's allright for those lucky enough to have Windows Live Beta! When are they going to release it to us mere mortals?

OK
My phone wasn't responding yesterday so I tried a soft reset and it hung on the splash screen, after taking the battery and the memory card out and it was still doing the same thing I decided drastic action was necessary and did a hard reset. All went well but...
My phone is sim unlocked still but every time I try and install a cab I just get Installation unsuccessful! And that includes the Orange Security levels cab. Any ideas anyone?
Sorted!

Just got my C600 back from repair and, of course, they had flashed it.
Wen't to that french orange dev site, ordered my unlocker at 0.05am. Got an email with the dl link by 0.20am. Installed it, said "security sucessfully disabled". Installed all what I couldn't do while it was locked, everything works.
So, I didn't even need that procedure up there...

You now download online - a lot easier.
