Yes we all know Orange are becoming hated and pretty stupid with their decisions lately. However my mother wanted me to upgrade her contract earlier so I rang up and went into retentions
She was paying ?25 for 120 minutes   (I did wonder what she was thinking when she started the contract)
After a bit of "Ooh I dont want to leave Orange but if I'm forced to ...." I finally got a deal of:

-300 cross network minutes
-1150 cross network texts
-The Magic Number (You chose a number and you get a free amount of texts and numbers per month... and whats with giving everything stupid names thesedays on Orange )

And all for the same price of ?25 she was paying. Oh and I got her a W810i and Bluetooth headset for free too.
It should be 150 texts but he mentioned that they had lots of deals on and that she was eligibile to The Magic Number and 1000 free texts a month. I asked if the 1000 texts was only for the first couple of months and he said no its for the whole length of the contract. Sorted

I'm not personally a hater on Orange but I guess thats because im on PAYG and that seemed a pretty good upgrade I think

That's not to bad a deal. the main reason people "hate" orange (a bit strong I think) is that they lead the SmartPhone revolution and now people have phones that can use lots of data they seem to have abandoned them to high data charges whereas T have shown the way with cheap, fixed price unlimited data.

O's CS, which also used to be the best has suffered recently too.

If your mum doesn't use data and wants lots of texts that seems a goofd deal.

Mind you, T have also lead the way with the flexT plans allowing you to use your allowance how you want between voice, MMS and texts. With O sometimes I'd go over either my voice or text allowance and have to pay extra even though I hadn't used the allowance for the other.

She can hardly find her way around the internet on the home PC let alone her phone. I was shocked when they offered it mind as she never goes over her minutes and uses about 10 texts a month. Nice bit of borrowing for me   Theres going to be a lot of "Alyn(my name btw) have you seen my phone?"

I wonder if O will be so give-ish when the get round to releasing their Hermes variant??
It'd be nice if they were, especially if they get their heads from up their bums when it comes to data prices.

Hermes/TyTN whatever they're calling it thesedays.. But yeh I would love one, is it a definate UK release?

Orange and T  are both scheduled to release in August. There is some doubt as to wether O2 will release in the UK

As long as O are releasing it. When my Dads contract ends I'm claiming the device he upgrades too and he can't be bothered for the 'fuss' of switching networks

My dad is on PAYG and I don't think he's used the ?10 credit he put on the phone when he first got it a couple of years ago!
