I found the OEM voice recognition software to be lacking on the MPx220. I had just installed MS Voice Commander on my father's Cingular 3125, so I though I would give it a try on my MPx220. AND IT WORKS!!!
First you have to find it on the net somewhere. You can search through Google for "VoiceCommand_SmartPhone_Setup" or if the link is still available, find it HERE
Then simply unzip the program and install it on the MPX220. I chose to install it to the phone rather than the SD card.
I then decided that I want the MS Voice Command to use the same button as the OEM speech Recognition software, specifically because I did not really need access to two different voice recognition software. So in Voice Command Setup I choose "None" for Voice Button and then I made the following registry changes.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\KeyBd]
"VSCommandLine" = "\Windows\VoiceSignalLauncher.exe"
Change to:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\KeyBd]
"VSCommandLine" = "\Storage\Program Files\Voice Command\voicecmd.exe"
To stop the OEM VoiceSignal speech recognition program from starting when you power-up your phone, delete this file:
\Storage\windows\StartUp\VSTBootStart
This would be perfect for anyone who is using a non-US ROM and is tired of using a British accent to call any of his/her contacts.
I LOVE VOICE RECOGNITION NOW!!!
Unfortunately, I was unable to get Voice Recognition to work over BT.
