Basic question: Setting up Gmail on Dash

I've got my email set up well-enough that it checks my account every 15 minutes and downloads all my messages. It's pretty good, but it I still get wierd error messages every time saying that it's not set up correctly.

I am not able to send messages through the phones messaging system (I have to use the Gmail Java applet to do that), and I'd like it to happen automatically when I respond through the phone's messaging service. It also doesn't work when I manually hit "send/recieve".

Can somebody walk me through which settings they used to get gmail set up properly? I don't see what I've got wrong.

OK, well it sucks that I couldn't get an answer to such a simple question in all this time on this forum, but I found the answer myself so I'll post it if anyone else is wondering:

Go to this link: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/get...il/gmail.mspx#A

The thing you have to do that isn't common sense, is that when you are setting up the email through the phones 'messaging' center (outlook mobile), you SHOULD NOT create the new account using 'Google' as the selected account type. I originally did that and it barely worked (recieved, but coudn't send mail). Pick the 'Other POP3/IMAP' option, then from there follow the directions precisely from the link I provided. For some reason the autogenerated settings from the 'Other POP3/IMAP' category are much better than from the 'Google' category.

Problem solved.

It is so nice to see people answering their own questions
