Now that 4.5 has gone to final release where can we find the next beta version :)

How long do we reckon before they stop development on this cause of Vista and it's new sync facilities?

Clucking Bell. I only just reinstalled my laptop a few days ago and with Astink working ATM I am reluctant to b0rk it all by upgrading.

Any chance the improved USB speed is anything like USB2?

Ugh! I have just spent the last two hours trying to get my devices to sync with 4.5 and it has caused me no end of grief. Finally rolled back to 4.2.

4.5, for some reason, could not recognize my previous sync partnerships, so it could not detect that my device was already synced with my desktop, and kept asking to create a second sync partnership on the device. To make things worse, it decided to rename the device id of my WM5 pocket PC (Ubiquio 501), and then went on to freeze at synchronizing appointments.

With my iPAQ 2210 and 4350s, 4.5 also did not recognize previous partnerships, but thankfully did not rename the devices. However, it did go on to freeze at Outlook sync.

I gave up and did a system restore!

Fraid not, takes 20seconds to copy a 7.5MB file.

Didn't mess anything up though, smooth upg, don't even need to remove the old version, it does that for you.

@ ZSK...

Wow what a wonderful upgrade... as MINE TOO cannot recognise the existing Partnership I have, since I have upgraded.

Nice one Microsoft.

Others - how are you finding it for remebering an existing sync partnership?

No problem here at work. Going to try it at home tonight.

Install worked ok. The install wiped the 4.2 partnership and had to setup a new one, no biggie there. Problem I've got now though, which is right royal pain :D , is that the sync with remote exchange server through ActiveSync is no longer working.

I get a "Support code:80072efd" error.

I've tried a couple of things like AllowLSP = 0 reg key on the PC, no joy :D

I've tried changing the connection settings for AS on the PC, no joy :D

I've tried rolling back, and still it doesn't work.

PIE works ok, Fizz works ok, NewsBreak works ok, all on passthrough, but no damn sync to exchange server. :)

After having it installed for a week or so now I've noticed a couple of problems with AS4.5

1. When I log in as a differnt user it's like it has to install something so it looks for the origional installer, I didn't have it so cancelled the install. Then everythime I started up WMP 11 it would try to install AS, I cancel the install (takes a few times) close WMP and if I open it again off goes the installer again!

2. It seems to keep a hold of the COM port even if the WM device is not plugged in. Trying to use hyper terminal to access a switch it said the device was in use. I had to kill the wcescomm.exe process before I could use HT. Never had this prob with the previous AS.

just some info, sry for digging up an old post

I got 4.5 version on mine, but when connected to desktop pc via bluetooth to surf the net (desktop in bedroom) after a short while it looses connection.

My thought was as it keeps syncing aprox every 15 mins it disconnects it's self automaticly??

Anyone now why or how to keep it connected.

Also at the top of activesync the schedule is grey'd out thus unusable is everybody's

Thanks in advance

kev.

One tip if you install this on xp and in the future upgrade to vista remember to remove it before the upgrade as its impossible to remove it after , and the windows mobile center does not function well with it still in the system .
