What Memory Card Capacity?

This may seem like a daft question, so excuse me for asking if it is a newbs question.....

What is the max Micro SD Card capacity that works with the s710 and what make is best?

Reason I'm asking is I have now ordered from Smart Devices after Expansys changed my order from UK stock to EU with adaptor. I had ordered a value bundle from Expansys that came with screen protectors and a 1Gb card etc.

Doing my usual check on a couple of sites I've used before I see that there are 2Gb versions and usually the bigger the capacity the better, but I don't want to order one and find it don't work.

Thanks in advance

John

Thanks for the quick replies.

Getting a 2GB microSD Ultra II Sandisk from Moby Memory (www.mobymemory.co.uk).

Had Sandisk cards before and they seem to be pretty reliable.

Just waiting for my Vox now from Smart Devices after telling Expansys to take a running jump.

Called SD this morning with my credit card info and spoke to one of the best informed and most pleasant customer service people ever.....if the rest of my buying experience with them is as good, I know where I'll be buying any new devices from in future.

Cheers

John

What's everyones thoughts on which microsd card to get. I definately want to get a sandisk, but not sure whether to go for the 2gb UltraII card or the non-ultraII Sandisk card?

Is it just a difference in access speeds of the card?

They are usually only a couple of quid difference between the two, but I'd like to make sure that either works (wouldn't want to have any issues with it). I see above that someone is using the UltraII card so I guess there's no problems with those ones.

It is just different access speeds. I'm using a regular one, and I have no issue with it. That said, I might try the faster one and go 'wow' ;)

Just noticed that it seems my E650 has a microsd already installed in it.

I went in to Camera and it asked the usual 'do you want to save it on the card'.

Upon checking Task Manager I get:

Storage Card: 120.03mb

Used: 192.00kb

Free: 119.84mb

So looks like a 128mb card to me. Even though manual says it doesn't come with one, and no mention of one on the box. ;)

Yes I know I could just take the card out and take a look, lol. Does it hurt anything taking the card out while the phones is on?

My E650 also has a microSD card installed. It's a Sandisk 128mb. The programs/files are not lost if you take it out to have a look and put it back. Also there is no mention on the box. Well done Orange! :D

Not that you can do a lot with 128Mb, but yeah, it's a pleasant surprise! I noticed it when I fired the camera up for the first time and it asked me where it should save the pictures.

I have a 2GB Sandisk UltraII in my S710, works like a charm.

Can always recommend Sandisk, best cards out there, and go for the faster ones if you transfer lots of data to the card.

I put an 2GB Sandisk Ultra II in mine. Can't say I noticed a dramatic performance improvement over my standard 1GB Sandisk (non Ultra) one. The Camera still lags approx 1 second before actually taking a picture, and storing on the card.

I read in other posts, conflicting reports saying that 2GB is the maximum size: Read Here

But then again, there are some who already have a 4GB SDHC card working fine. Read Here

Ive got a 2GB transcend microSD card and works perfectly. Get a fraction of a second camera lag but I suspect nothing like others have had.

Thanks

Thanks

I turned the Shutter Sounds off, and it's made a slight improvement to the camera lag
