Guest tecnospy Posted June 6, 2007 Report Share Posted June 6, 2007 (edited) Hi there, first time posting and its about a problem! I've got an unlocked E650 which I purchased off ebay (more fool me!) I have made and received calls for the last few days and its been fine, until today where the call will end after 0 seconds. The phone is not blocked according to the checking sites, although it does make a few bleaps when it ends the call. I've tried hard resetting it back to default and still nothing. I have tried my sim card in another phone and can make calls, i have also tried another sim in the e650 and nothing. Does anyone have any suggestions on things to try? Guest conan_troutman Posted June 6, 2007 Report Share Posted June 6, 2007 try switching flight mode on....then switch it off and reboot...I had this happen to me once and that cured it...may also work for you...it happend cos I rebooted the phone while I had no signal and it was looping the search with out finding a provider even though it clearly looked as though it was connect to my network. The 'checking' sites are fed by the networks once or twice a week. If you used paypal, complain NOW before the guy withdraws the money. Print all your ebay / paypal paperwork. Photocopy the side of the box with the IMEI sticker on as most stolen handsets don't come with these unless it's insurance fraud...... You bought in good faith, throw yourself at the mercy of orange if they will unbar it with all your proofs....then go to paypal and go to the police. Your seller will not help. Worst thing you can do is 'send the phone back' without having your money back FIRST as a refund, not a seperate paypal payment. M.S Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I am at a loss with this one...sorry Not to worry, I should have paid the extra to get it from a reputable company. Turns out that the phone is blacklisted, despite what the checking website said, I managed to get my provider to do a check and it came back as blacklisted. The ebay seller has over 600 positive feedback, so you can forgive me a little for trusting them. Hopefully I'll be able to get my money back, if not from the seller, from paypal. Also, they may well offer you a 'deal' not to leave negative feedback for them i.e your refund may depend on it. I really wouldn't send it back just yet until you have a confirmed course of action from the seller - as you bought it in good faith from ( I assume) the original legal owner you can still have it unbarred - you were able to use it on your account for a few days and have a box and paperwork. If the seller is a dealer, and not the original owner or the person who's claimed it as lost, they should have procedures in place by law to stop this, including asking for a copy of the original airtime contract. Buying a subsidised handset on ebay that's only just come out always carries these risks. Your dealer has to have got it from somewhere, so someone needs to have signed up for it and they see an easy way to 'make' money selling it and claiming a new one a week later. ( I hate it when they say making money - they're simply stealing it, not making it...) Escalate your paypal dispute to a cliam ASAP. M.S Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I've been looking at picking up a Vox from e-bay and your story has made me pretty paranoid! I was going to buy from a reputable seller and assumed this was safe (well, as safe as possible really) but if you bought this from someone with a feedback of over 600 then it looks like i'm wrong. I can't see that there would be anything wrong with naming and shaming the person on here as they have quite clearly and deliberately sent you a locked phone. The ebay member was called fonestall, in his defence he has refunded my money freely without having to involve paypal.
