Is there anyone out there that can (or would like to) create me a small program, or just a cab to change the registry, that would reenable the 'reminder' volume after i've had the phone on silent or vibrate and gone back to a normal profile?

Regards

Griff

It's a known problem on the HTC Dash and some clever soul has fixed it. Works perfectly on my E650:

Also worth reading this thread:

Can't take any any credit for this - it's already been posted here:

Hope this helps

Thanks for those links.

I checked out the E650, and indeed the "Normal" profile is missing the Reminder settings, and so it doesn't get set when you select the "normal" profile.

In my ApplicationData\profiles folder I only had a "Normal.prof.xml" file and a "Meeting.prof.xml" file.

I renamed these to .old files so I still had the originals should I have any issues.

I then ran the cab in above link from the phone which added in a number of profiles, including Silent and Outdoor (presumable something to do with the Dash's profiles).

Because it seemed to me that it was just the "Normal.prof.xml" file that had issues, I deleted all of the newly added ones other than "Normal.prof.xml".

I then renamed my "Meeting.prof.xml.old" file back to .xml. So in effect was left with: the new Normal xml file, my existing meeting xml file, and a backup of my original normal xml.

I tested by changing my profile to Vibrate and setting a reminder. It didn't sound as expected. Swapped it back to Normal profile, and the reminder played as it should. Going from Silent to Normal now works too

Thanks to the guys at xda-developers for the xml files. :P

Something else that should have been tested before these were shipped to users. I mean, it's not like the reminder sound is anthing important in the phone is it :D

Paul, if you read this, is this Normal.prof.xml file something you could add to your debrand/fix cab perhaps?

The cab works fine on the vox, the Dash profile names ARE the same as the vox, its just the wording is perfect on all the phones(!?)

Profile name: Normal

File Name: Normal

Profile name: Silent

File Name: silent

Profile name: vibrate

File Name: meeting

Profile name: Outdoor

File Name: loud

You need to run the cab then 'customize the profiles' to your requirements the 'normal' way via the phone interface.

They may be the same, but I only had two profiles in my /profiles folder so didn't need all of them. I assume the others are set somewhere else or built in. So all I wanted to put in my /profiles folder was the corrected normal profile, and the other existing one which worked ok anyway.

I don't see the advantage of having the extra xml files from the cab file in the /profiles folder, esp when they didn't exist to start with.

The Xml files are created if you edited any of the profiles from the defaults, if you don't touch them then they don't get created. If you switch to a defaulted profile the problem may arise again.

Didn't realise the files were created only if you modify the profiles.

For me, it seems to be only the 'Normal' xml file that is missing the settings. So replacing/adding just this one file fixed it for me. I've tried switching it to silent and vibrate profiles (which I don't have XML files) and after going back to normal had no recurrence of the problem.

with compliments from Mr John Cody....I am sure this will do what you are all after.

That's the same as the link at the beginning of the thread

yes it is but this is a direct download and its there for people who flick to the end to see a solution as there are people that read the first thread then read last and cycle backwards from there ...as I do sometimes. and claerly did this time lol

This is not quite 'on-thread' but it's similar. I use the alarm on my phone each morning. when I leave my phone on silent I miss my alarm as there is no vibrate. I know you can select vibrate from the option list when choosing a 'sound' for the alarm, but I don't really want to have to change the alarm sound each time I change the profile to silent.

Can the alarm have a sound and vibrate at the same time. Alternatively is there an app that will sort this out?

try city time alarms or JC alerts as these have ignore mute option which will allow the alarms to vibrate and sound even when the phone is in silent mode.
