I've just tweaked my Touch ROM to change the PagePool from 8MB to 4MB.

After a hard reset, shipping ROM:

Total: 47.90 MB
Used: 28.03 MB
Free: 19.84 MB

My cooked ROM:

Total: 51.92 MB
Used: 27.66 MB
Free: 24.26 MB

Which is exactly what you'd expect.

I've not really noticed a different in general use due to the smaller PagePool size (it's early days tho), however the extra 5MB sure comes in useful!

You could move your cache to a new 4mb ramdisk....

Hello Paul and thanx a lot for the pagepool tweak.

Could you (or anyone) give me the stats about storage memory before and after your mod?

Someone over at XDA developers has done the hard work and patch a rom with the 4MB page pool and extended rom removed allowing 51MB program memory and 55MB storge memory. You can find the download links on the elf upgrading section over there
