Hi,

I've spent about 6 hours searching on the internet and trying to get this working on my handset (after reading what seemed like extremely complicated threads with registry edits and confusing instructions). I installed a cab which gives me the option to select stereo in the bluetooth settings screen on the phone, but I can't get music to my stereo bluetooth headset.

Does anyone have a very simple way to get this working? E.g. just one cab file that sets it all up and some simple instructions for the lay I am?

I use Mortplayer, but will use Windows media player if thats what it takes to get stereo sound.

Thanks a lot in advance,

Chris

Are you sure you have A2DP in your ROM? Which devcie are you using?

O2 removed A2DP from their MiniS variant due to poor performance and issues with headset compatibility- noit sure how many others also removed it.

Thanks for replying. I don't believe I have A2DP in my ROM. I have the t-mobile mda vario I.

Thanks,

Chris

If its not in the ROM (ie your ROM has a non A2DP Bluetooth stack), there's no way to activate it other than installing a ROM that does have A2DP.

Sorry this post is a few days old isn't it.

First off, I would recommend upgrading to a custom ROM with inbuilt A2DP as thats generally easier to configure that way. There are loads of custom Roms available at xda-developers that range from AKU2 to AKU3.3 to Windows Mobile 6!!

If ROM upgrades are not your thing then follow the simple steps from xda developers.

Make sure your XDA phone is up to date with the latest AKU2 ROM (if you are unsure then post up the device information) and delete all the pairings with your headphones.

Copy Avrcp_MPplugin.dll, bta2dp.dll, sbc.dll to \Windows through ActiveSync.

Copy Tor_A2DP_cert.CAB to any folder (I recommend \My Documents), and execute CAB from File Manager.

Then copy tornado_a2dp.cab to the device and install.

Restart your Device

Now begin pairing your headphones with your PPC and when you get to the point where it asks you whether to use Wireless Stereo select yes.

Now your headphones should be paired simply hold the stylus on the device in the Paired Devices menu and click set as wireless stereo.

You should hear some beeps, and simply load WMP and click play.

Are these instructions different to what you tried?

Some bits do but then some of it doesn't e.g. the copying of the dlls.

I'll give it a go.

Thanks.

You're a star - It works. Anyone wanting this the MDA vario should try this out. Not difficult and worked first time! Even the remote control on my headset works straight away with Mortplayer!

Only problem is that the sound is a bit muffled... Is there anything I can do to improve the sound quality? Also the phone also becomes super slow! Any ideas for speeding that up?

Cheers,

Chris

Maybe I spoke too soon - The sound skips a lot also :)

I guess its a good starting point - so thanks again.

Maybe I need to upgrade the Rom its just that I'm not sure my t-mobile shortcut buttons will still work (voice dialing and wifi and internet and messaging ones...) and I'm not sure what that does to the warranty on the phone...

Cheers,

Chris

Here is the piece de resistance.

I wasn't sure if you would get skipping on the Vario Tmobile ROM but this little cab should do the job.

A2DPFix.CAB

It should also improve the sound but if not post back and we can adjust some of your reg settings :)

As for speeding the device up hmm, all I can suggest is close all the unnecessary programs and possibly use and omap clock?

Hope this smooths out the path a bit to A2DP! Also make sure you restart after the installation!

If your updating your ROM to a newer Tmobile ROM like I suggested in my previous post <_< then you should have no problems with your warrenty. However you could just do a hardreset to make sure everythings nice, clean and bug free?

Hi,

The sound is much improved. Much clearer. Strangely the way it was before the skipping went the more I played stuff.... Haven't experienced any skipping since I tried your new cab (But then its only been a minute). Well just got some, but I think thats partly to do with bad range on the headset. The only other thing is that sometimes I've noticed it seems like the play back slows down and speeds up a little bit now and again like someones changing the pitch...

Anyway once again - thanks a bunch.

I do have the latest UK T-mobile rom to my knowledge. Unfortunately the the t-mobile Wm6 is only available to US customers... Unless you're aware otherwise?

Thanks,

Chris

Hmm? WM6 Tmobile America? I think your wrong there mate your probably thinking of the Vario II or the Dash.

You might get some skipping but just make sure theres nothing going on in the background. If your warranty's out or you don't mind flashing Roms then I'd definitely recommend flashing a WM6 ROM with some newer A2DP drivers, they really work a treat.

I think I noticed some problems when I used third party programs for A2DP try HTC Audio manager or just WMP and do some comparison tests.

Bare in mind that you are using unsupported drivers and that it can't be reliable as built in support for A2DP. Also try importing this REG. entry.
