Help! S710 (V1415) won't use wireless

I've just got a UK vodafone-branded V1415. Whatever I do I cannot make IE use my wireless connection - it always goes to GPRS. The same applies to the e-mail client. Has anybody else had this problem? Is there a solution? Or am I just being thick?
