Thinking of getting a Touch

I've been doing some reading and it seems that for some people the Touch is too slow and the battery life "not great" (ie scraping a day, or less)

Anyone care to share before I go out and buy one?

I'd have to say that the battery life is quite good actually. I recharge mine every night, but I use it extensively (several hours per day) and it never drops below 50%. I voted for bat good, speed poor, though I feel "poor" is a bit harsh. Although it's definitaly slower than my pervious device (good old mda compact) I've only experienced problems with playback of highres (320*240) .mov-files with TCPMP (.avi no problems) and Minimo 0.2, that just won't work. Programs load quick enough and navigation with TomTom is quick. The main problem must be memory leakage, so if you don't mind a soft reset every now and than and use programs like cleartemp and/or oxios memory and no extensive multitasking it'll be alright.

Had my touch since last Thursday. I had too seen the reports beforehand about being slow but I had a Prophet previously which is the same spec. I don't have any problems with it so far, as said above Tomtom is quick, screen is nice and bright.

Not read too much about how the new screen works but what I have found is that I can pretty much hit every button (ok) on the screen with my thumb which I could never do any other device, I always had to use my nail or the stylus.

I've had to soft reset a couple of times but this is quick and painless.

General use I get a couple of days use out of it and I don't think I've hit peak with it yet, I've only charged it 3 times since I got it.

WiFi signal seems better than the M600, windows live is good although there is a problem with it not showing users sometimes. There is an update for this on XDA developers.

I've also put on the 6 panel home plugin, which gives you basic profiles.

Not sure if you've see a real one in the flesh yet but they look so cool and are very small. Even the mrs likes the look of it. Windows mobiles just got sexy!!

Almost forgot, install the htc phonepad from XDA Developers as well hen you don't need the stylus at all

Thanks for that

I have seen one, and the size is one of the appealing factors.

Battery life worried me, but it sounds like it'd be fine (1 full day - 15 hours - is the minimum requirement for me)

I was thinking of trying the PM Contacts and PM Keyboard (somebody else posted about them again quite recently)
