I am from (and live in) Mexico, and I'm interested in buying the HTC Kaiser, but... what about the GSM chip? Can the phone be unlocked?

I mean, I own an unlocked Treo 650 (originally from Cingular) and I'm able to switch from and to a couple of GSM chips from different carriers (here there are Slim's Telcel and Movistar). Can I do the same with the Kaiser?

If the answer if yes, how do I have to buy it? (when available, of course).

The third-party resellers (MobilePlanet, Elite Electronix, etc.) all sell unlocked phones, so there is no SIM lock.  The two resellers I mentioned are taking pre-orders and each is asking US $800.  USA availability is a bit of a question mark -- I've heard date ranging from next week to November.

In general, the HTC-branded phones are unlocked -- it's only the carrier branded phones (e.g. AT&T Tilt) that get the SIM lock.
