Don't get me wrong, I love my Vodafone v1415 (aka E650 & S710) but the rubber flap which covers the charging socket is begining to drive me crazy.

I press it in, it stays for 15 seconds, then pops out. I press it in, its stays in for 15 seconds, then it pops out. Guess what happens next?

Is anyone else having this issue?

Short of pulling it off, which I would prefere not to do has anyone else managed to figure a solution?

You can remove it without damaging it with a small screwdriver if you take off the battery cover.

Thats looking like my only option, still very annoying. I was considering heating the rubber flap to see if it goes back to its original shape.

Any thoughts?

I quickly and easily removed mine, and it's all for the better.  I charge every night, so it's actually better to remove it!  

However, my rubber for my MicroSD card has gotten a bit too big as well, and it frequently dislodges.  How can I make it "the right size" again?

I had that issue with my SD Cover and very small amount of glue in the centre sorted it out I have a 2gb card in so never planned to remove it.

Had the same problems as you guys in regards to the rubber seals. Also my vodafone V1415 keeps turning off every night. Doesnt matter what i do, keep it charging, on battery etc it goes off! This is so annoying as alarm will not work. Im desperate for a solution to this. Cannot find a setting anywhere that deals with this problem.

Can you be a bit more specific please ?

What type of glue ?
Inside or outside face of the cover ?
Did it shrink the rubber so that it fitted properly again ?

A hardware reset, if that doesnt resolve it then I would send it back under warranty.

Its a crying shame about these rubber flaps, the phone it my perfect windows mobile device but it seems removal is the only option for the flap.

Stu,

I use Loctite Super Glue

Opened the flap for the SD card and on inside of the flap a very small amount. The inside of the flap is profiled to line up with the edge of the SD Card.

Yes it compressed the rubber flap to now be a perfect fit.

Interestingly, the have removed all rubber flaps from the S730 (http://www.boygenius...-s730-unboxing/). Though to do this they have put the SIM card and SD Micro card under the battery.

there is no screw to remove it, but I know how to do it (did it myself).

remove the battery cover from the phone.

open the rubber flap and bend it a bit downwards (display facing up), if all is good, you should see a tiny gap between rubber and plastic.

take a very small screwdriver, and put it in that gap.

now carefully push the flap out of the phone, to the back that is.

all should be done without destroying it.

Abover there were problems with the cover, but my Vox playing me a game: how long can I use the SD-card? It means that  it always moves a little and lose the contact. I have to open the rubber cover, push a card a little and then it is working OK. For only 3-5 minutes, then disconnects again.

Any idea?
I'm afraid I should bring it for a short maintenance service...

I had issues with the MicroSD rubber cover:

When I put my memory card into the slot then the rubber cover wouldn't close properly.

The card did not appear to sit deep enough within the phone. As a result, when I tried to close the MicroSD card slot (with the card inserted) then the rubber cover would disengage the MicroSD card, which would then pop the cover open.

My phone was not reading MicroSD cards at all so I have returned and will get a replacement next week.

My question is:
"Was my phone's card slot defective or is it a general design flaw which causes the rubber cover to pop the MicroSD card out???"

Also, if I were to remove the rubber cover of the phone which I had, then the MicroSD card would still stick out too far and it would most probably disengage if the phone rubbed against something. Can someone who has removed the MicroSD card rubber cover please post a picture of what slot looks like so that I know how much the card sticks out (if at all.)

I've had my Vox for a year now, and yes both rubber flaps swelled over time.  About 4 months ago, I removed both, and have not had any issues.  

If you remove the battery cover, I believe you can pry the entire rubber flap for the mini usb out.  I personally just cut mine flush with the case.  The micro SD flap was removed by just pulling it out.  No, dust has not been an issue with either.  All the annoyance has disappeared and I am once again happy with my Vox.
