Beep on Startup...?

Just today my Shadow started sounding a short system beep upon bootup -- not sure why as it hasn't done this during the 1st week of use.  I've also heard it making that same beep thoughout the day while sitting idle.  No message on the screen when this happens -- just beeps.  Anyone else run into this?  Any ideas how to shut it off?!
