How to make my computer stop trying to tether?

Whenever I plug my Shadow into my Work PC (Windows XP) it stops using it's network connection to the internet and is apparently expecting my Shadow to give it internet connectivity. I don't know why as I never actively tried to set this up and don't want it to do this. So right now, as I'm on the internet at work, I have to have my Shadow unplugged.

What can I do to stop this behavior so I can leave my Shadow plugged in?

What do the network settings show when the Shadow's plugged in? Can you disable it in the Network Connections?
