Well, I've been scouring this forum for the last 2 weeks and thought I'd wait till I got my first smartphone (TyTN II) before I posted.

These forums have taught me so much but my first question is a dumb one....

How do you save CABs onto the memory card? (I hang my head in newbie shame).

I've actice synced with PC, can drag cabs etc. onto 'Documents on...(my phone)', but when I hover them over the memory card (in separate window), I get a cross.

I'm determined to get good at this (it's one of the main reason I bought this beauty of a phone), so if anyone could stoop to my level for a minute or two in reply. I'll look like this... :(

The best way is to use Activesync/Explore to open a Windows Explorer session showing the WM device; this starts either with My Documents or My Device in the current window. If My Documents, use the Up button to get to the root of the device (My Device)

From there you can double click 'Storage Card' to open a window to the storage card. If you wish you can then create a 'Cabs' folder on the card, which you can then open- being empty, it will of course be blank!

Now use the PC Start menu to open another Windows Explorer session from where you can navigate to the cab files you want to copy. Now simply drag teh files from this window, to the one open at the Storage Card/Cabs folder (or whichever one you want) and the files will copy across.

^^What he said^^ :(

but...

Is the cross just a + sign? that's just XP's way of telling you that you are about to copy a file, instead of moving it.

Another thought! Are the cab fils on the PC within a ZIP archive? If so you will need to extract the files to a PC folder before trying to copy them to the WM device- for some reason Windows can't copy files from a zip archive to a mobile device (even with Directory Opus :D ), and any attempt will indeed show the 'Cross' icon.
