Long time lurker, first time poster.

I've had a Hermes for about eight months now, and thanks to the T-Mobile official upgrade I've finally moved to WM6. I'd avoided previous roms because it seemed like a fair bit of hassle.

I couldn't find an easy way to get it how I liked it, and thought, having put that much effort in I might as well try out Black (Satin?). Wasn't keen on how that looked, and realized I'd have to find out how to put the T-Mobile connection settings in etc, so went back to the official T-Mobile rom.

So, the reason behind the post:

I'd really like to theme it, but haven't found a way to do this yet. I've muddled around in ThemeGenCE, but it always seems to mess up the start menu logo, and I can't even get it to show the swishy 3d bars that WM6 has. Any ideas?

I'd like to get rid of the crap along the bottom of the today screen. Is this possible?

I use notes a lot, but can't seem to get the record button on the side to link to them. Again, is it possible?

Are there any really simple clock plugins for the today screen? I've found a lot that seem to do far more than I need, and I'm worried they might slow the whole thing down.

Perhaps I should just go for some other cooked rom?

I do realize how annoying it is when someone comes along and asks a few basic questions that they could easily find out for themselves, but I've spend an age fiddling around with this and I seem to be going around in circles.

Have you tried the latest version of ThemeGenCE? I use it for my themes and it works perfectly for me

You'll need to bypass the extROM install to get rid of that horrible tray. Hard-reset then soft-reset before the 'Customising in 3 seconds' kicks in

You should be able to set your button to Notes in the normal way, StartSettings>Buttons

Clock? I have spent the last few days hunting the net for a digital clock splugin. A good one is Aldate, which I've attached here for you. But for me it's not perfect as it doesn't centre perfectly. If anyone knows of a big digital clock plugin, that centres properly, and has a transparent background please let us know!

I have seen a few analogue clock plugins at FreewarePPC.com but haven't tried them myself

A couple of points

Re the clock - what about HTC Home? See my attached screenshot.

As you will see - I liked the look and feel of Black Satin and although the ROM I use is not based on it, I have used the Theme.

There was an issue with removing the bottom tray (or rather the wireless icon) I think off some later ROMS (later build than mine - I hate the bottom tray and so removed it using Schaps Advanced Configuration tool - again a worthy download I feel) but I think that was only if you removed when cooking the ROM.

There are plenty of cabs around that will install all your t mobile settings for you.  I have rabdo's Orange cab for example and just run it every time I flash my phone.  Actually I have cooked it in pretty much so it runs as part of the install.

Presumably if I bypass the extROM I'll then need to put in the T-Mobile settings? So if I do this, is there any real reason to use the T-Mobile ROM? Although, I suppose with that logic, no reason not to use it…

Notes doesn't seem to show up on the list when I'm setting up the buttons. Perhaps there's a way to add it to this list somehow? I think it must be a T-Mobile thing – they don't want their customers to have easy notes access. I did manage to set it up fine on Black Satin.

I seem to have the exact same clock needs. A nice big digital clock (but not one that mimics an 80s LCD watch), in the centre/left of the screen with no added clutter. Aldate is ok, but I'm happy with the way WM does the date already, and don't like the clock stuck right out on the right. You would have thought this would be a pretty standard feature – most cell phones have a big clock.

What does everyone use for the camera application? Presumably there are alternatives to the rather awful thing provided?

Create an account with  HTC E-Club, then browse the downloads for P3600; there you will find a Network settings wizard to configure your connections.

Sticking with the T-Mo ROM means you don't invalidate your warranty  

Unsure why you're having trouble with the Notes thing, is there a shortcut to it in the start Menu?

Re AlDate, you can cheat the date format, just enter a space and it won't appear on the plugin, just leaving a clock; mess with the padding and font size options, hide the icon and you get a big fat clock   still doesn't bloody centre properly though  

with HTC Home yes you do need all the other gubbins, and while it is useful it's not flexible enough for my needs, so I don't use it

With HTC Home (if you get one of the later versions) you can disable any of the tabs you don't want - ie mine is actually the six tab version but I don't use weather or profiles. Presumably you can remove all the tabs, leaving just the clock and the notifications boxes

Re Tmob - I am sure the cabs are all available on xda-developers.  I think Lordsmiff started a thread but dont have time to check right now. Get the UK one. (assuming you are UK)
