whats the best program for editing your devices' registry

and is this program on your pc, changing the reg via usb/activesync
or a reg edit program directly on your device changing the registry strings.

I like Resco File Explorer, which incorporates a registry editor which is very good, but it can't be used to modify value which would unlock your device.  For that, regeditSTG is really the only one.

EDIT: And they are both modifying registry directly from the device.  I'm not sure it's possible to modify the registry via any PC application over ActiveSync...
