I know there's a fair few of us here on T-Mobile UK, and i'm willing to bet the vast majority of us are on a Web'n'Walk tariff! Well, it that includes you, then you're going to be very interested to learn that T-Mobile now offering free WiFi Hotspot access to Web'n'Walk Plus users!

The Web'n'Walk Plus plan, which comes in at £12.50 a month (£5 more than the basic W'n'W service), already frees users from the limitations of the base product by including IM, FTP etc., but for many this latest addition will make the upgraded price plan a no brainer!

Full details can be found in the T-Mobile Press Release, an excerpt from which i've included below.

One thing i'm not 100% clear on is exactly how you take advantage of this. I'm a W'n'W Plus user on one of my SIMs - how do I get the hotspot login? Anyone know? :)

[Edit: It says NEW customers, I sincerely hope it's not ONLY new customers!]

T-Mobile said:

Free WiFi for T-Mobile Broadband customers

Every new customer on web’n’walk ˜Plus’ or ˜Max’ price plan to benefit

Key features:
  • T-Mobile is the largest provider of public WiFi in the world, with over 1,200 HotSpots in the UK
  • First mobile operator to offer inclusive access to a WiFi network as part of a mobile broadband price plan
  • Prices from £12.50 per month when connecting with a Flext mobile phone contract which now includes access to every T-Mobile WiFi HotSpot
  • Broadband speeds up to 8mbps
London, UK, 9 January 2007:  WiFi and high-speed 3G (HSDPA) are being fused together for the first time today. T-Mobile announces the integration of its ground-breaking web’n’walk price plan with its UK network of WiFi HotSpots to offer its customers the best mobile data network, with unprecedented access to broadband on the go at unbeatable prices.

The largest provider of public WiFi in the world, T-Mobile is the first UK Mobile Broadband operator to offer access to a WiFi network as part of a mobile broadband price plan. Starting at £12.50 per month (when connecting with a Flext mobile contract), the service gives you access to the internet through using your laptop. Additionally, it lets you access the WiFi network on a huge range of locations like Starbucks coffee shops, airports, main-line train stations, service stations and hundreds of other locations in the UK, without paying extra to connect to wireless hotspots. Without T-Mobile’s web’n’walk price plan, access to WiFi costs from £5 for 60 minutes (one off or occasional access), £10 per month for subscription or £20 per month for those without a T-Mobile phone. For a full list of the company’s HotSpots, visit http://t-mobile.hots...directory.co.uk.

sorry to disappoint Paul, but it clearly says "new" customers in the press release... maybe the way forward is to cancel the w'n'w add-on, then activate it again a month later - this way, you appear as a new customer. but it means spending one month without the facility...having said hat, who needs the wifi thing when one gets 3g and HSDPA (activated by default for w'n'w plus users) with t-mobile?

Device history: Orange MPx 220 / Orange SE Z1010 / O2 XdaIIs / T-Mobile MDA Vario W'n'W / Orange MoDaCo SPV C600 / TMobile Vario II on Flext 25 + Web'n'Walk

Well i'm hoping to switch to T-Mobile once the Touch Plus drops, i'd just about convinced myself that i didnt need WnW Plus, but with the rumours of HSDPA being limited on WnW standard (no idea how true that actually is), and allowing modem access, i might have to reconsider getting WnW Plus if it includes Hotspot access!  Presumably this includes hotspots world-wide?

I still exist

As far as i understand it, this includes access for any wifi enabled device, useful if you have a laptop with you, no?

Might phone up and have a moan. Failing that, I wonder if I can switch from Plus to normal and back to Plus?

Will ring em later.

Because they can? Let us know how you get on, I've still got the original Web'n'Walk unlimited for £7.50 but would consider an upgrade to the Plus version if I got the hotspot access too.

hehe finally caught up with holland then , this has always been standard and free with wnw for nearly 2 years  :D i tryed to do the same on orange when they upted the data from 2mb to 250mb but i found out the only way to get the new data was to extend my contract by 2 years , spoke to the t-mob here and that applies to them as well if changing wnw tarrifs  :D remember guys the networks are only interested in one thing and thats money :) so be prepared to sign a new contract or extend your old one if you can that is.

Yeah read this....what a laugh.  Your £12.50 is better than my £12.50.  If it was a limited time offer I'd understand, but the fact this is being touted as the new standard for the tariff means adding it to existing users should have been a no brainer.

I really hope they see sense soon.  Grrrrr.

Of course, wouldn't be such a problem if their HSDPA network wasn't so obscenely temperamental.  I've had 4 or 5 outages of 3G or data lasting several hours since I opened my account in November.  Which is terrible reliability in my book. And of course, all you ever get from customer services is 'our engineers have nearly resolved the problem'.  Yeah, sure.... /rant :D

Nope, tried that angle, new CONNECTIONS only.

Wonder who we can kick-up a stink with? :)
