According to Orange - who kindly remove the Live Messenger application from the TyTN II ROM with their crappy customisations - you can now get a free trial until June 2008 of their 'Orange Messenger' application: after June however, you have to pay for the messages you want to send and receive.
Now, I know from my old SPV M3100 (the original TyTN) that - with a generic ROM that includes Messenger - you can send and receive messages at no cost at all (bar your network connection that is) - so what gives Orange the right to charge for something that should be not only already on the phone when you get it, but should also be free to use too?
...I will eventually install a new ROM to my phone since Orange fill theirs with bloatware - however, can anyone recommend a good IM client that works with Windows Messenger and is also free? Damned if Orange are getting any more of my money for something that shouldn't cost...
