Hi,

I know from the other Windows Mobile smartphones I had in the past (SPV C500, C600, Samsung I600), that there was difficult (or impossible using the built in functionality) to group contacts and assign a ringing tone or caller picture to the entire group (to be shown in case anyone from the group calls). Is this included in this version of Windows Mobile? I know there are "categories" but this is useful only for filtering contacts for displaying, as far as I know. Even if you group contacts in different categories, you cannot add a ringing tone to all contacts in that category or assign a picture to them. You should do it one by one.

Should I use a different (third party) application for this? (like Caller ID or Photo Call, etc) If yes, what aplication is the best and how it is performing on VGA screen? (I saw display problems with such applications designed for QVGA or lower resolutions)

I'm just waiting for my Touch Diamond to arrive every minute by now and I've spent the last days to read and gather programs, tweaks, tips and so on to be "prepared".

Thank you in advance

The same still applies - you can't do it at the OS level, you'll need a third party app of some sort. I've not used any personally i'm afraid!

OK...so I got my phone, I've spent several days locked in my house:D trying all kind of tweaks, applications and so on... Now the phone is OK with everything I need on it...except for the posibility to add a photo or a ringtone to multiple contacts at once. Directly into the phone or in Outlook contacts (why Microsoft didn't ever include a "ringtone" field in Outlook contacts is a question I always ask myself)

I use the phone mainly for office (it's a smartphone afterall) and I have multiple groups/cathegories (friends, family, office...etc). I need to have different logos assigned to multiple contacts or ringtones, to make the difference between them. As I have more than 500 contacts, taking them one by one is painfull. I've tried Photo Contacts Pro 5.0, but is susbstituting the original contacts of the phone with it's own. It has a different interface that I don't like at all (the graphics are awfull compared to the ones of the Diamond) and even if I assign photos to groups, I cannot do the same for ringtones and of course, as soon as I quit the application, they're all gone (I've tried also the function to "export" the info to the contacts, but I just ended up with all photos replaced with white templates). In the end, I've uninstall the program.

Sorry to insist like this but if anyone knows a way how to do it, please share the info. Any help will be much appreciated.

P.S. The phone is AMAZING... I cannot get bored with it. Each day I find somenthing new to add, tweak, or similar...that's the beauty of Windows Mobile Phones afterall (or smartphones in general)... MoDaCo & xda-developers sites are the best and all of the information I need, I took from these sites. Great job

Hi Rapier,

You can try an application I have developed. Its called 1Touch Contacts and its available at www.1touchmobile.com. It has a Group Manager ('Company Name' or 'Category') with which you can filter, add, edit, rename, remove groups as well as set a group ringtone and send group sms. However with the 'Category' field, you can only filter or edit a Category (adding, renaming, removing, ringtones and sms are not supported). While editing a group you can select all contacts or just the ones you need using a keyboard search. I've just released a major update. There is a fully functional 7-day trial. Hope you like it.
