I think the title says it all...  the new Orange catalogue has the HTC Touch Diamond - FREE on Orange £40 + p/m tariffs! Quite a deal i'm sure you'll agree!

Just before anyone flips, the pay as you go bit on the right side of the picture is from the next phone along in the magazine! :D

Matt.

My first post in about a year and I make the front page. I feel really special :( he he

Now lets just hope this price sticks as I really don't mind paying nothing for a phone like this :D

I find Orange's tarrifs fairly uncompetitive nowadays, and while they insist on charging for sms delivery reports i won't be going back to them!

Nice deal on the Diamond though :D  Now lets see how competitive it is against the other networks offerings!

I still exist

As T-mobile has Orange branded the htc diamond? That will suck major. Vodafone does not brand the diamond?

I agree we don't like branding & sim locking, So like O2 at least did not locking their XDA's was good move and vodafone at least not branding. But If someone wants both the elements absent i.e. branding & locking there's EXPENSYS.COM but with a premium price. Even the htc  find (i.e. XDA Orbit ii) is a much better device than an IPhone so I hope touch diamond will be much far better even comparatively to IPhone 3G as htc find (i.e. XDA Orbit ii) is. Personally I like phones without keyboards so no to pro

And what of the so far mixed reviews? Are we to believe that this is a sluggish unit with poor battery life, or is it the dogs... I mean, bee's knees? :D

just spooke to Orange and they are saying August for the Diamond. Also, they say August for the Diamond Pro

Don't mind that at all.

I can't get an upgrade till Sept anyway.  This means less pain for me in the long run :D

I wish that the PAYG price in the OP was £149 - that would be so much cheaper than buying SIM free!

I am hoping that the £100 price for the iPhone 3G will act as a precedent for the maximum cost of a high-end device, and that on the lower tariffs we dont see silly prices from the operators.

Sadly for me as a low user (am currently on Flext 20+WnW) T-Mobile UK seem to have dropped all the lower value plans, so am hoping that this will be a good price for me as an upgrade.

one (dummy) was on display in the carnaby street orange shop
when i asked he said next month.
then backtracked and said - it could be any day.

there was no pricing info underneath it
there was a semi 3d raised orange logo on the rear at the bottom.

I Spoke to orange customer retentions this morning, the person i spoke to was very helpful and told me an internal email had just been sent out stating that the Touch Diamond will be out on Monday 7th July!!

No Mention of the touch diamond pro.. Think orange still got a couple of weeks / maybe months knowing orange before this one is released...

There were early issues with lagginess, you'd hope the network versions will all have the latest ROM on them though.  Mine isn't notibly sluggish and the battery is on par with every other 3G WinMo device!
